  1. Hi everyone. I want to say how great this forum is and the search function is a very useful tool. Why am I saying this, well . . You have probably guessed - I seem to have the same problem on my 13/60, it must have developed in the last month or so since I did a full lights check. Dash switch and ignition on : Main beam warning light on when column lever is in either dipped or full position, beam warning light comes on in flasher mode, no headlights. No full or dipped lights, everything else ok. From my quick(ish) rummage behind the dash I did find the purple wire and connector hanging and not connected to anything, should be connected to a black wire. I haven't found a spare bullet connector amongst the rat's nest so I guess this is the starting point this afternoon or tomorrow. Failing that it will be chase down a faulty earth. I HATE working on the wiring behind the dash for all the reasons you know. Maybe I can leave it until my local garage reopens in a couple of weeks and get him to do it. He has an interest it keeping me & the car happy, the last time it was in for work he and his future wife asked if I would be willing to lend it too them for the day of their marriage next year. For me no problems, I did say that every time there is a loose bolt or the oil needs topping up I'll bring it round for him to do 😁 Lunch time, much more fun than under dash wiring!
  2. Just to butt in on this, my handbook for the 13/60 gives a lower pressure at the front than the back - never really thought about it till now. Will I sleep easy tonight due to this ?
  3. They are all after the 13/60 convertible that is trying to hide
  4. I've had my 13/60 upto an indicated 130+*, just to see what it's like. * That's kph of course
  5. Mine go rusty from lack of use 😁
  6. So it does, but only once per thread per day . . .
  7. The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (1979) “You can't throw us into space,” yelled Ford, “we're trying to write a book.” “Resistance is useless!” shouted the Vogon guard back at him. It was the first phrase he'd learnt when he joined the Vogon Guard Corps. My wife has a copy of the book, signed by Ford Prefect from when she worked with him in some theatre somewhere in the galaxy . .
  8. I see Pete is awake and on your case, light at the end of the tunnel . . and no not an oncoming train
  9. I'm not the one to help you but someone will very soon. Try the search function on the forum as this topic has been covered and I am sure there is a reply to your question. Good hunting
  10. Same here, only I bought a 13/60. I leaned to drive and passed my test in one back in 1970/1
  11. When the change to UK came in we met some holidaying Brits in town and explained the confusion - they were happy to be mistaken for Ukranians as they thought they would get more sympathy.
  12. Another Triumph with a Birkin connection, not that either of them owned it. From the film 'Slogan'. The car was rented for the film from a garage and at the end of filming Serge signed the dashboard and said 'one day it'll be worth gold'. The wife of one of the garage staff loved the car so her husband bought it for her, it has remained in the family until now. It is being put up for sale, so will it be worth its weight in gold? By the way the car is in better condition than in this video, see photo.
  13. Charlotte : born 28 July 1971 in London. The time line works.
  14. Here she is very highly regarded as an actress, singer & rebel. Much of her esteem must be down to her conections with the bloke in those two pictures 😉, 'Serge the derge' as my wife calls him. Tributes to her have been huge, one TV company dropped a film to show one of her many films, I think thry said she had been in over 70, another replaced a programme to show her last concert performance, last year or two. Somehow I missed both prograzmmes. . . As is usual for such passings my regional TV channel managed to find some link to her. Serge & Jane had a house in a small village in Normandy at some point. The Bretons, not wanting to be outdone, also managed to find a link to a property in the Finistere. Plus, of course, the Paris address she shared with Serge.
  15. I got a spare for my 13/60 from these people, they were even able to work from a photo of the original key. https://www.keytrader.co.uk/List-All-Products.html?keyword=Triumph&view=category&option=com_virtuemart&virtuemart_category_id=347&Itemid=
  16. There you go then . . .
  17. Not the correct shape for my 13/60 so I can't be tempted.
  18. Budget for 135 € a time, standard rate fine for a lot of minor motoring offences. I would put my money on the Gendarme not knowing what the rules are anyway.
  19. GB, UK? I don't think the Gendarmes here will bother about the technicality, they probably aren't aware of the change anyway. What they will be interested in is your speed. Article yesterday, Brit in a Ferrari clockes at 160kph on a road with a limit of 90kph. His licence taken away on the spot and car impounded, a good chance the courts will order the car to be sold, the owner won't get the money. Cheap RHD Ferrari anyone?
  20. No they don't, I have a 'dumb' phone, it does have a camera function though
  21. I forgot to add that when I got my 13/60 it was fitted with 155/70 which were a bit old so I changed them for 155/80 and did notice that the speedo then read more accurately than previously.
  22. As long as there are no police about, isn't having hazard lights on while the vehicle is moving an offence? Instead of putting the hazard lights on they could just stamp on the brakes, you then also get a confirmation your brakes work as well as the speedo, No on second thoughts . .
  23. I checked my recently repaired kilometre version against an old GPS unit I keep in the Triumph, I easily get lost, and found it very accurate, as long as the GPS was of course.
  24. This thread is getting interesting. As I said my 13/60 has the hose to filter system, therefore according to the owners handbook I should be using a gauze filter not the paper one I do use. The photos are from this handbook. As you will see the engine bay overview one shows the direct system and further along both systems are explained, so I too wonder if the valve version was on export versions, USA maybe? OR, Triumph just made it up as they went along and fitted whatever was available each day. 🤔
