Johno
Evening all. Can anyone recommend a good firm for reconditioning the pipes on my mk 3 gt6 manifold? Johno
JohnD
"reconditioning the pipes"???? Which 'pipes'? The water heating pipes, the actual inlet ducts? What's the problem? John
Johno
The heater inlet pipes
JohnD
Are they blocked?
Pete Lewis
youcan just bypass the them whilst they aid the mixing of cold air and warming it it will run fine without the heating if push comes to shove Pete

Ian Foster
Johno Can you take a picture of the manifold please. Ian
Johno
It's just a slightly corroded pipe at the front end.
Ian Foster
Johno If as standard GT6, the front fitting is a steel hose tail. Photo attached showing front of inlet manifold with slightly rusty tail, plus new tail for comparison. (I haven't been brave enough to try and fit it yet) This has quite a fine thread and can be difficult to remove without stripping the thread in the aluminium manifold. Same goes for the banjo bolt at the rear...beware! Ian
johny
I would leave well alone and if the hose struggles to seal properly coat the outside of the fitting with some epoxy metal....
Johno
Does anyone know of a company that does this sort of work well?
Peter Truman
I replaced the corroded front connection with a brass barbed nipple of the same thread, re the rear alloy fitting and banjo bolt I've removed 2 successfully on Vitesse's and GT6 using MAPP heat and penetrating oil but it was done over time and carefully with copious amount of copperease on reassembly, must try to undo the Vitesse's banjo bolt and regrease it's been there 20years, what's my chances? Sometime ago I think I remember on eBay someone selling brass versions of the banjo bolt.
KevinR
I'm not sure if he is still doing them, but the person who is expert in this refurbishment is Ian Gittings. His contact details are in the attached thread
