Steve P
As an old fart, I watch the Footage detectives on TPTV. Tonight they showed a reel showing a line up of Triumphs heading off on the ferry to the Le Mans race in what looks like the 70`s.Including footage from the race and a line up in a town. Worth a look and plenty of Reg. no`s to check to see if they are still around. Watch it on catch up. Steve
thescrapman
If Triumphs racing, can only be early to mid 60’s at latest.
Steve P
No it was a convoy of Triumphs going from the UK to watch it!.GT40`s etc actually racing. S
trigolf
I'm sure I saw a glimpse of 1966 on the Le Mans 24hr programme that was filmed.

S Pretty sure the Spitfires raced at same time as the GT40’s need to try to catch the programme
Steve P
Just watched a bit of it, there is a shot of a 1966 Le Mans program on the seat of one of the cars. S
JohnD
"Talking Pictures" is a free-to-air TV channel. Is there a catch-up version, as I'd like to see this! John
Steve P
https://www.tptvencore.co.uk/ You have to register and then get adverts but worth it i think. Go to yesterdays "Footage detectives" and it`s a short film about 40 minutes in. Steve
JohnD
Oh. My. Gods. It took some time to register, then, the clip is between 33 and 35 mins in. Searching for it, I had to endure several commercial breaks, each lasting about three mins and composed of identical ads. For some nice amateur footage of the '66 race, but all that for 2 minutes? I shan't be going back to TPTV again! John

It was run on a threadbare shoestring budget by a father and daughter originally. They acquired the rights to lots of old programmes that no-one else wanted, and set up a channel to shown them.
thescrapman
I reckon that it was a factory arranged trip, the few plates I could read seem to be similar to some of the factory cars. VWS820 still exists, been untaxed since 2016 mind.
Steve P
I checked the Vitesse in the ferry queue on Gov.uk, sadly no record found. I love look at Life programmes on TPTV. Jeez I'm only 57. S
