johny
If the cover is getting warm it doesnt really matter whats causing it youve got to do something about it! And even if its not theres got to be some sort of insulation just for the noise😞
Iain T
1 hour ago, JohnD said: took sometime to explain this concept, but clearly, I failed. It doesn't matter where the heat comes from it still heats up the bulkhead, gearbox cover, gear stick and occupant of Herald variants especially Vitesse and worse on GT6 as the cabin is smaller. johny
yes Triumph saw fit to insulate the bulkhead and gearbox cover so thats got be maintained if not improved. With the gear lever they went for an isolating joint on the single rail units but thats difficult to replicate on the 3 rail...
dougbgt6
You're doubly punished in the GT6. godda wear shorts because of the cabin temperature and because you're wearing shorts a scorched left leg from the tunnel. Doug
Peter Truman
Love the GT6 style and spec, and esp that engine BUT its so hard to get into for a 6ft2 person of appropriate width, also claustrophobic, and as said very hot! Wonder if any one has fitted air con someone must have if living in southern states of the USA. Think the daughter who's 5ft5 and under 7st might upgrade to a Mk2 GT6 from her Mk2 Spit with her inheritance, Her local garage owner in country Vic has a Mk3 which his family has owned since it was 1 year old, all very original down to the paint, his dad brought it to go racing BUT his mum said " no way " I'm having that!! At least the GT6 has good leg room length unlike the E Type which is built for midgets, the footwells are long enough but the idiots positioned the pedals halfway along? Colin Lindsay
Portable / aftermarket aircon units have been available for years, someone's bound to have done it!! We had them in works cars back in the 1980s, fitted below the dash in the footwell but they were a risk to the passenger's knees.

Colin Lindsay
Two just found on the Net; first is a kit already fitted to a TR which looks quite neat, the second is a kit for the Stag that came up for sale online recently:
