last used a bung type on a past Renault 21 1721  with a result approaching 190psi it blew the thing across the garage

so prefere the screw in and means as said you can do it single handed 

always check tappets first and get the throttles held open ,all plugs out and a good battery

I suppose the answer if youre going to use a bung type compression tester without help is hold it on with one hand and operate a remote starter switch with the other. These are available to buy or make one up yourself and easy to use on our cars....

Dave,

Being Mr Clumsy I don't like things that fly out my hands at high velocity. Buy a screw in one, you can get them cheap for £10, I've got two. One tells me I've around 148 + or - 3 on all pots, the other says 135, it doesn't matter, it's that they're all about the same that matters.
