Andrew
Did anyone see the new program on Quest TV turbo pickers, renovating old cars. This week they purchase an old Herald and polished it. Not sure what to make of the program any comments from anyone who watched it. Regards Andrew
Badwolf
This car (or one very similar) appears to have been featured serveral times on this programme. I must be honest, I have not watched all the youtube clips in depth (google: turbo pickers herald) yet, but the cars featured are all very similar! By the way the car, LLM388D shown in at least two of the clips, is currently showing on the dvla mot page as only having an mot until 28th April 2015. Ben Caswell
Home made repair strips bent with a hammer!! for the side rails and spray the underside with underseal. Well it was an original low mileage one owner but I don't call that a sympathetic restoration.
Valherald
Hi Andrew I'm glad I'm not the only one, I'm not sure either, my thoughts were exactly the same as yours, ''not sure what to make of it''!! as a Herald owner (early restoration) I thought it may have been a useful watch but not to be. I may give the show another chance this week. Gary
Andrew
Hello all Like valherald I also have a Herald and likewise I watched it for any knowledge they had that could help me with running my Herald. What struck me was the car allegedly had been standing in that garage for eleven years, so the first thing I would have done when on the ramps would have been to look at the notorious trunnions. Why do programme makers insult our intelligence Regards Andrew
Dick Twitchen
Andrew, It is sign of the times because 'we' are not the target audience; the same charge could be leveled against house renovation, boat restoration etc. Interesting but everybody on here has a 'specialisation', if 10-20% of media reports are incorrect in that area, cumalatively what faith do you have in the rest. Cynically yours, and do not get me started on USN collisions, Dick
