Adrian
Whilst I don’t have this issue, my cap seems to be slipping off the locking bar. Also I’ve looked on the usual sites but can’t see a replacement lock barrel as the key occasionally jams. any advice?
dougbgt6
Adrian, The barrels are quite simple mechanisms, I have take them apart and made the same key open both doors, tail gate and petrol cap. My doors now have 4 tumblers instead of 6 but, really are Triumph locks that secure? My Cortina key used to open my GT6! Doug
Pete Lewis
My mum in law went home in the wrong Cortina she ended up with a 1500 not her 1200 she took it back to the shops and the Other driver was sitting in her car, waiting , it was the third time he had his car swapped Pete
Anglefire
Friend of mine went to a scrap yard in a marina some years ago. He had a habit of putting his keys in the boot - on this occasion forgot to take them out before shutting it. Went to the yard office who gave him a bunch of keys to try and the first one opened it again ?
Adrian
So would a door barrel fit in the fuel cap housing?
dougbgt6
The fuel cap and tail gate barrels are shorter than the door barrels, so I think no. Doug

The whole assembly for the mk3 has the key to one side. The mk1/2s have the key in the middle. Doug Thanks Doug, I will see if one crops up tomorrow. Regards. Richard.
