Chris A
Tourmalet, the closest I get is seeing it on the Tour de France. Lucky you! Don't forget the new speed limit in France as of today. Reduced from 90 to 80 on main roads, single carriageways without a central divider. 2 Lanes in one direction and 1 in the other is 90 on the side with 2 lanes and 80 on the other. IF the 2 lanes are for use in one direction only. If it is a third lane in the centre used by either side then it is 80 on both. Why do simple when you can do complicated. Good luck. Chris A
Well what can you expect in the Sarthe! It's the PAYe de Loire You should have crossed over into the Orne. "Orne free" We eat Orne Flakes for breakfast.... I'll stop there, except the biggest selling T shirt of this type has Orne to be alive. The original world famous, well in France at any rate, hit song was Born to be alive. Enjoy LeMans, going to be very hot this weekend.

rogerguzzi
Hello All This is a round up of our trip. We sailed from Portsmouth to Bilbao Drove to San Sebastian 2 nights Pamplona 2 nights Oloron Sainte Marie France 1 night Jaca 1 night Vielha 1 night Andorra 1 night Seix 1 night (back in France) Antichan De Fronigns 1 night Sarrancolin 1 night St Pastous 1 night Angouleme 2 nights self catering Sainte Verge 1 night Classic Le Mans 4 nights camping! St Nazaire 2 nights self catering Huelgoat 2 nights self catering 2200 miles covered plus ferries! We did 17 ( I think!) Mountain passes the highest just under 7000 feet Erro 801 m Mezkiritz 922 m Ibaneta 1057 m Puerto De Somport 1640 Fadas 1470 m Port De Labonaigua 2072 m El Canto 1720 m Port De lers 1517 m Col De Agnes 1570 m Col de Latrape 1110 m Col de la core 1365 m Col de port de Aspet 1069 m Col de Mente 1349 m Col du Portillon 1293 m Col De Peyresourde 1563 Col De Aspi 1490 m Col Du Tourmalet 2115 m Spitty ran ok just a bit hot and used just over 1 lt of oil? & 36 to 37 mpg! I have worked out the total cost of the trip (approx!) £ 4200 which includes £550 for someone to come twice a day to feed our dog and 2 cats(all live outside and daughter lives 1/2 mile away and came down most days as well) This includes the Classic Le Mans tickets as well! We were away for 25 days so that,s £170 ish a day(£85 per person) for every thing in my book that is not a bad price to pay for a trip of this type! I think people pay much more than that for 2 weeks in Benidorm !! Roger ps so if a nearly 73 year old can do it what are you waiting for ? I my book this life is not a rehearsal for the next one! pps the tool kit did not come out once(I tell a lie my mini tester came out for someone else at CLM)

Or rent the Memsahib out ? (not to good a map reading) but pretty low maintenance! (Vino and Tapas and cake now and then!) Roger ps missing the mountain passes already and only back 4 days! pps And I still prefer Spain! Just let the boat take the strain and use the Brittany economy one(truck boat) same food and drink at cheaper prices and I will be shot down for this but no children running about or only one or two! just big truckers!
