Saying that, I once repaired a rad with a 2p piece and a blob of epoxy. Short term, only lasted 8 years. Sadly radiator specialists have largely disappeared, but you may find one fairly local. Fans, I have always nipped the up. Spanners are usually sized so they apply the correct torque for the fixing when done up by hand.
Stratton Jimmer
Workshop manual section 0.111 shows "Fan attachment 5/16" U.N.F. x 1 1/4" bolt 12 - 14 lb. ft. 1.7 - 1.9 kg. m." Thanks for that, I did wonder if it was like that but wanted to check. I'll go and carry on.

Still a few about, mostly repairing radiators on HGVs and things but they can do our cars easily enough; I'm currently having a Herald radiator uprated (from V core to X core, no idea what that means!) for about £160. Check online or local press / Yellow Pages (if they still do that) and there's bound to be a firm local to you.

Nearest one to me is 30 miles away, but he is retiring, and reckons no prospect of anybody taking it on. I think the fact cars have been using ali/plastic rads for 30 years and they don't get repaired has a lot to do with it. But others will have a specialist local. We used to have one 5 minutes from me, and another the other side of Brighton. Times have changed.
PeteH
Google:- Vehicle radiator recoring Brings up 12.4 Million hits, But seriously a whole bunch of firms out there. Pete
Colin Lindsay
https://brownlowradiators.com My local, about thirteen miles away. I don't think they'll be folding due to lack of business any time soon. They also include Fuel Tank Renu, which these days means taking my Herald tank and making it Ethanol-proof.
