martyn wright
Hi Just aquired a second hand "Chrome" Rocker Cover! Unfortunately it has a "Breather Pipe"? Can anyone advise which is the best way to block it off please as my original Rocker does not have one??
NonMember
Probably the easiest way would be a short length of standard 1/2" bore coolant hose and a stubby (cut down) 1/2" bolt (that's 1/2"UNF, not a 5/16 with 1/2"AF head!) Check the filler cap, though. The 2L Mk1 (chrome rocker was a GT6Mk1 thing) had a PCV breather with a Smiths valve on the inlet manifold, and used a special oil filler cap as part of the breathing system. You have the earlier "big pipe out the side of the crank case" job.
paul fosh
just put a cone filter on mine , as the 6 breaths through the mushroom cap
martyn wright
Just realised that my Rocker has a large pipe coming up and a large Bulbus Oil Filler Cap, so it is completely different LOL! Never mind |I'll sell it to my brother for his Mk2!! Cheers Gents
paul fosh
you can still use it as i said put a small cone filter on the outlet pipe on the rocker.
Pete Lewis
we fitted one to my Vit6 and used a small mesh filter on the pipe stub you could just hose it to below the sump its more restricted than the meshed filler cap but never had any breathing problems Pete

Pete Lewis
18 hours ago, martyn wright said: Bulbous Breather Cap! mine had one of those being an early 1600 with no sealed breathing etc as said fitting the ally cover did not infringe the breathing and no problems appeared after a good many miles and years of rapid zooming around the only other change to the crankcase breather was a re rout to clear the spin on filter housing if you dont find a filter to fit the outlet just hose it to atmosphere with any breathing do check the bulkhead to bonnet seal is working this keeps engine fumes from going down the heater intake Pete

Pete Lewis
as the alloy cover takes on engine heat and is less cooled by the fan you wont get hair cream in the cover its will be a lot cleaner Pete
