  1. I will rephrase my original question to this. 'I am rebuilding my Vitesse 6 with a NZ built 13/60 bulkhead and I want to refit the generator regulator box in its original position behind the left side kick panel. Can someone please inform me as to how the reg was fixed to the car as the donor car does not have the mounts to fit this. A photo would be appreciated
  2. Hi Pete its because I want to😏 As we are in lockdown here in NZ I am not able to get extra cable to modify the loom till it is all over. I am trying to get as much done as I am able too with what I have available to me in my garage If I can get the car going as close to standard as possible I will then modify it when it is back on the road.
  3. Afternoon. I am slowly rebuilding my Vitesse 6 and am converting it to an alternator. I stripped the generator regulator to act a termination point for the wiring One of the problems I have is that I am using a 13/60 bulkhead from a NZ assembled car and I do not have the mounts for the Vitesse RB340 dynamo regulator. Does anyone know how this was mounted behind the left side kick panel, I am assuming that it wasnt just selftapper screws through the side of the bulkhead as that would be very ugly so am assuming some sort of captive nuts or clips. A photo would be appreciated if possible. The power punch was used to punch holes into the copper strip, a lot better than drilling. I made the missing mount from a piece of fuel line that I put in my lathe and cut a groove in the outside. Thanks Adrian

  5. Ludwig that took me far to long to work out what it was you are doing. I was looking at the photo thinking it was the front of the car not the back and that it was sitting between chassis rails not on the floor. Therefore I could not tell what car it was or why you were doing it. So please confirm it is a Spit/GT6 and that is the right hand side of the car looking back, if not I need help.🙄 I had better take my pills now😉
  6. Yep I did the cardboard trick after spending a bit of time straightening the fins
  7. With help from Rhyna we got the radiator back in. I took the plugs out to make the engine easier to turn and the rad literally dropped into place with a to and fro on the fan. The damage around the tap I painted red after temp fixing it so I will know something is wrong when I look at rad when this bother is all over with.
  8. Does there exist a list of chassis numbers with the years they were commissioned. I know Canleys has its list but it has the car, the years of production and numbers built. What I am looking for is, for example 1 Jan 1967 to 31 December 1967 chassis number xxxxxxx to chassis number yyyyyy

  10. Thanks Pete I thought that was the case but hoped some of the 'old hands' would have a few clever ideas. I do have an old metal fan on the spare block but it is well past its best and I believe the plastic is more efficient. When I used to drive the car 37 years ago the throttle would on occasion jam open and the fan would 'pull' the engine forward on its shagged mounts causing the metal blades to hit the lip of the bottom radiator tank making a hell of a racket. I got used to it in the end 😉
  11. Any trick to fitting and removing the Vitesse radiator. My 6 has a big saloon plastic fan and it is a rather tricky job removing or installing the rad. I find the best trick is to remove the sparkplugs and spin the fan back and forth while dropping the drain tap and bottom into place. I took mine out to straightup bent fins and managed to snag the drain tap and crack the solder, as a temp fix I sandblasted the area around the fitting and used Selleys Kneadit Steel to make a temporary repair till I get it fixed, car isnt driveable but am hoping to run the engine.
  12. I think that was the point about not sticking anything into your ears, especially cotton buds or keys.

I bought a pair of front Gaz adjustables recently and realised I had no safe way to fit them, in the past I have used dodgy spring tools and tension straps and these days I am well past that that carry on. I can open the side of my finger up with a teapot so just imagine what I am capable of doing in the garage! A bit of research to see what others do and I made this out of my scrap steel supply. As an aside it was cheaper to buy them in NZ than from the UK which was a bit of a pleasant surprise. By leaving the tabs on the side it self supports in my vice till I clamp it up and by welding the nuts to the top of the thread I can use any spanner (probably air ratchet) to wind it down unlike the ones that have the thread fixed to the base and you can only use a spanner as the nut winds down the thread. Obviously with this you will need clear space under the vice for the threads to wind down.
  14. I cant find photos of my body spread hydraulic rig but I do like the simplicity of yours. Only difference is i would use a hydraulic jack as I am terrified of scissor jacks. Adrian
  15. I will look into that when I get reemployed. Like many self employed film workers and other trades I am out of work for the unforeseeable future. And I am in New Zealand and find email so easy
  16. Its just a shame they completely ignore emails and questions asked on Ebay!🤔 I have tried both ways to ask about the front lower bar at the bottom of the grill on the Vitesse bonnet and never got a reply. But like the rest of us they've probably got other things to worry about at present.

  18. I had a spacer about made to allow my spin on filter to clear the breather pipe. I also angle my filter at about 45 degrees up to the front of the car. Adrian

  20. Thank you Colin. Does the collective know what the difference is between a Vitesse one and a 13/60? Could 13/60 part be used in place of the Vitesse one? Adrian
  21. I’d rather not from New Zealand that’s why I emailed them. I was wondering if as people knew a part number then there might be a catalogue somewhere. Adrian
