  1. I’d rather not from New Zealand that’s why I emailed them. I was wondering if as people knew a part number then there might be a catalogue somewhere. Adrian
  2. I coat the terminal with vaseline then warm it with a hairdryer. Adrian
  3. Thanks for the reply guys. I have been to Chic Doigs website and cant find a parts list, how do you know what they sell? I did send them an email, but have yet to hear back. Adrian
  4. When I put the body back on the 6 I ditched the rubber mounts and made stainless steel discs about 6mm thick then used penny washers for the fine tuning. No idea what it is like on the road yet but it was a lot easier to setup than on my Dads Mk1 CV a few years back. To get the body height adjusted I used air wedges like the ones they use to break into cars. Adrian
  5. Does anyone know of a supplier of the piece of the bonnet that goes across the bottom for fixing of the grille on a Vitesse and probably Herald When I got my bonnet back from the body work guy had welded a piece of 90 degree folded body steel that was also straight from left to right of the car. I cut it out and now need to either get a piece made or buy one, I am assuming it has the same curve as at the top of the grill. It is a channel on its side with a curve which has the nuts to screw the grille to it I dont want to buy a complete panel as the rest of it is in good condition. Thanks Adrian
  6. Always fit these to my moderns as draining oil always seems to hit a bit of the vehicle and reappear somewhere that you dont have a catch tray. I use the Fumoto brand Had on on my 300TDi Disco then L322 TD6 RR and at present my Amarok which has a 90 degree offset. Adrian
  7. Hi Karl Have you thought about taking the axle to your nearest Steam Train restorers. A lot of those groups have some serious machinery and several old boys who will have dealt with harder jobs than this in the past. Adrian
  8. My 1600 would go to over 7000 when the throttle would jam. The frightening noise that accompanied this was the metal fan blades hitting the bottom tank lip of the radiator. Killing the motor and restarting cured the problem till I found the issue. It was so long ago I cant remember what the issue was though. Adrian
  9. I think that this has gone beyond separating a hub from an axle. It is the stubborn proving of a point and is man against machine. Adrian
  10. Sounds like you have already rebuilt your bench but i would double that ply. When I rebuilt mine I used double thickness 30mm ply on 75mm x 40mm steel box frame with the vice bolting through steel tabs welded on. The whole bench and wall to 1m are cover in folded galv sheet. Nothing is moving my bench😉 Adrian
  11. That reminds me when I went search for the forum once I ended up at a site that definitely had nothing to do with Triumph cars, cant find it now. But with this forum I can go to the club website and everything but the forum. Adrian
  12. Unfortunately this forum is blocked to me at work. I can get into any other forums (Triumph car, VW, BMW motorbike) I visit but not this one. So whats so special about this forum? Adrian

    Wee Vitesse

I've just picked up a rather tidy wee white Mk2 Vitesse convertible. It was %25 of the asking price. Its the 2nd one down for those who dont know. http://www.cultmodels.com/products.aspx?Car+brand=Triumph Adrian

    Car Lifts

And make sure it will fit under your car. Height isnt so much of a bother as you can drive up on wee ramps but width can be a problem as our Triumphs have a narrow track compared to the modern cars these hoists are designed for. Adrian
  16. We had breakfast with Mac Reynolds on friday. He gave us a bag of lovely shelled walnuts from his tree. We dined at Bacon Brothers in Christchurch https://baconbrothers.co.nz/ We were doing a wee trip of the north of the South Island on our motorbikes, 5 days of fantastic weather and amazing roads. Mac had phoned a few weeks back and I was supposed to call him back but thought a visit would be better. Adrian
  17. So with Haggis' setup would it be possible to do as Pete did and reverse the alloy rocker cover but instead of venting to air you drop the pipe into the crank case tube. Just thinking aloud as I have an alloy rocker cover for my Vitesse 6 and could easily plumb a fitting into the crank vent. Maybe a nice braided line or shiney tube. Adrian
  18. Evening. What are the current thoughts/opinions on GAZ GDA 4011 rear shocks for a Vitesse 6? I see a bit of bagging going on regarding them from a few years back but were they as bad as people said and if so have they improved since? Thanks Adrian
  19. Someone always has to mention the hair😭
  20. 6ft 5in, large boned😉 In my late teens and early twenties I used to happily drive round in my Mk4 Spifire fitted with a Vitesse 2 litre and saloon gearbox, hard and softtop no problems. Adrian
  21. Thats right. Back in the 1980s a mate fitted some to his Mk4 Spitfire with a Daimler 250 V8 which later had nitrous fitted. It was a quick car!
  22. Hi Clive Please tell me more about the 4 pot calipers on Vitesse 6 carriers. Thanks Adrian
  23. If stick a bubbler into that it could double as a spa pool. Invite neighbours round and have 'those' type of parties😉 My dad tell the story of that the pit we had in our garage in Sunderland would freeze over in Winter😳 If I dug a pit in for my garage at high tide it would start to float😀 Adrian
