Hi Brian I put a length of welding wire from the bonnet catch to beside the bellhousing on my Mk1 2.5PI Estate. -
But more importantly no Vitesse!!!!!!

Well I'll be damned. I have no idea how that got onto Box but it is info that I scanned and obviously put on Box, I have no recollection of doing this. I know its me as it has my name and my watermark I did scan my collection of strips and sent them to VitesseSteve. As well as the small chassis stuff I also sent him strips from Toledos, Dolomites, 2000s and Stags. I can only assume I was playing round with stuff when I put these on Box. No worry about me taking them down as I cant recall how I put them up. -
I did buy one of the resin Vitesse Mk2 saloons from eBay recently. It looks to be a decent kit. It is now in the cupboard with all my other models to build

Didnt some small chassis Triumphs come with 'towing eyes' as an extension of the arb bracket (the u bolt with a loop on it)? I am sure I have seen them .

But where do you find coat hangers with clips strong enough. I can't get them to hold a pair of work trousers let alone a heavy Triumph manual

Check when winter solstice is on the Antipodes Islands. That’s the nearest land mass if you can them a mass to the antipode of London. You can’t call them up as they are uninhabited and are a NZ territory.

Would using a cutting blade on an angle grinder to cut a groove in the bearing help to get a puller in? Probably need the flat split plate puller to make it work. (sorry dont know the proper name form it) If going to the bother of replacing the seals then you might as well do the bearings. I had to do that to a pressed on ABS ring recently

Plus one for the Mckenzie Physio. I used to go to a physiotherapist who trained under McKenzie. Very hands on and physical but it got the results. Strapped to the bed, knees pushed up to my chest then twist all while telling me to remember to breath. Back to measurements, the minute on the latitude side of a marine chart is one nautical mile.

Fantastic collection. Very jealous of the Vitesse slotcars. I think the Vitesse is an under modelled Triumph, plenty of Heralds and it would be a simple conversion to make a Vitesse I imagine. I have several Airfix Heralds in the cupboard to convert to Vitesse one day.

Hi Pete you are probably aware that you can fit telescopic dampers without fitting CV halfshafts. It is just a bolt on extension on the top chassis member. From what info I can find the parts to make the original CV conversions are becoming scarce. A few people recommend replacing tired donuts with Metalistik donuts\, more expensive than alternatives but they last longer and are original spec. I tried to find the lever damper shock mounts for the Mk2 Vitesse as I have a Herald chassis I am converting to fit under my Mk2 but it looks like I will have to carefully cut them from the old chassis and weld them to the replacement. -
I tend to use the closest measurement but I find metric is best for small stuff

Which does make you wonder how many have been fitted to cars with the plastic boots still on them. At least the OP asked about this -
And this non Triumph tool is made to remove the halfshaft from the hub on the rear of a VW Amarok. VW will not sell a bearing kit for these vehicles only a complete halfshaft and hub but an aftermarket bearing kit is available. VW wanted NZ$5200 for the part, I could have a destroyed the axle and had a halfshaft and flange made for less than that. The Febest bearing kit was about NZ$300. Fitted with press and heat.

This is a heater clip from a Herald/Vitesse that I use as a divider in my US cleaner. With the cleaner having 2 transducers the waves move the salsa jar to a null point so this keeps it over one of the transducers

Remember antiburst are found across the Triumph range of convertibles

I recommend you use a piece of straight bar or better still angle to use as a support for the stamps so they are straight. And of course practice on some scrap till you are happy

Looking at the photo I would imagine that the inside of the pipe is very thin around the two holes. A torch would make them one very big hole. Chasing holes in tissue paper thin steel is not high on my list of fun things to do on a Triumph

A gorilla with a rattle gun is a very dangerous beast.

To me that damage looks like bolts or studs bottoming out in the holes then being gorilla-ed a little bit more tight.
