  1. I am happily using a 7lb radiator cap on my Mk3 engine without any problems. It appears to be the only Mk3 not to suffer from overheating in hot weather. As Pete says, I would not bother with the 13lb cap.
  2. Took the GT6 for a run round the lanes this morning to make sure the new water pump behaved itself:
  3. With parking like that at least the wheels won't be kerbed ! 😆
  4. Started up the GT6 for the first time in months and took her for a run round the lanes. Lifted the bonnet to check oil and water only to find the water pump spewing out coolant. Quick trip in the modern to Robsport International to buy a replacement water pump. Might even have the GT6 back on the road in time for Uncle Pete's Sunday run.
  5. The "seller" has 2481 ebay adverts for cars, bikes and vans all coming from "Italy". I bet poor old Marcus doesn't realise that his ebay account has been hacked !
  6. Good luck with getting the Spitfire ready for the re-test ! Nick
  7. Obviously the seller's account has been hacked. It happens time and again and Ebay seem unable to stop the scammers. Even when reported it takes an age for Ebay to remove the dodgy ads and they then pop up again using another sellers account. It is just like "Wack a Mole"
  8. I hoped that you wouldn't ask that, a pair of Uniroyals and a pair of Firestones at the moment.
  9. My GT6 Mk3 is on 175/70/R13 tyres fitted to 5.5J Triumph steel rims and they look OK to me. That size appears to be the current recommendation from our resident gurus too. Nick
  10. Hi Joe, welcome and thanks for showing the pics of your new pride and joy ! Nick
  11. ... but not the amount of force that had obviously been used on my old hub by a previous fettler. The washer had been dished and the hub splines spun until they locked onto the shaft
  12. That will confooose everyone ! Nick
  13. Pete, actually it was my hub that had the damaged splines and Gully kindly supplied the spare. If you remember you also had to skim a few thou off the inner face of the new hub to achieve the correct end float but the as you say the undamaged hub slid on like the proverbial .... Nick
  14. Hi and welcome. Sounds an interesting project ! Nick
  15. Sad news. Along with Mike Hawthorn one of my schoolboy heroes.
  16. Hello and welcome Brooky ! Nick
  17. ... and Uncle Pete keeps us in touch with his kind emails too ! 😃
  18. Hello Tom, welcome to the forum. Nick
  19. I used this supplier for a new electronic distributor, coil and leads to replace my GT6 Delco. Never got the electronic distributor to work despite two relacement electronic modules so gave up and refitted the old Delco. I have since converted the new distributor to non-electronic using a NOS Delco points mechanism and it is now sitting with my ever mounting pile of spares. Pity about the lockdown or I could lend it to you for you to try. Nick
  20. I had this problem and found the cap does not seal properly so replaced the seal with a new one. Still had petrol slopping out when tank was full so I now have two seals together, a bodge but it has done the trick. I just have to be careful when filling that I do not lose the second seal.
  21. Not noticed anything like that. Has someone "liked" you post without a comment, perhaps?
