  1. I'm hoping to attend this event https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=2ahUKEwiX8sry0YH3AhWJasAKHXVvDa4QFnoECAcQAQ&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.britishmotormuseum.co.uk%2Fwhats-on%2Fworld-cup-rally&usg=AOvVaw0Mu9UyLdRjgwITP-Mb13sk Anyone else going?
  2. I've posted this image of the last one made before, I can't see any cross flag badges on this one either so probably omitted on the later ones? All 1971 manufactured Triumphs came with the Leyland Logo badge though, if you look closely you can see them on the last one near the bonnet catches?
  3. Or more likely the Formula Wood rimmed wheel offered as an Option at the time?
  4. This looks nice? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/144486701918?hash=item21a4141b5e:g:HpIAAOSwVhdhy-ip Look at the Hood fit, it's probably the original one too at that mileage?
  5. That's a great looking Spitfire, I love the wheels👍 I can remember the owner of our local Newsagent having one brand new same colour and year, I used to see it parked outside when going to school and then work, I wonder if that car is still around? You've done a cracking job, Enjoy😉 Gary
  6. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/134060742375?hash=item1f36a496e7:g:sfAAAOSwLaBiOHau Looks a nice Restoration, I wouldn't be at all surprised if the Seller gets near to what they want for it? Summers on the way and it's about time Vitesse values went up. It's silly money now for 70's fast fords, this Vitesse looks a bargain in comparison and you get a 4 seater Convertible, with a smooth 6 Cylinder engine and a 6 Speed Gearbox too😉 Gary
  7. I may be wrong on this but aren't Convertible and Saloon seat belts different lengths? The convertible ones are longer (Fitted to rear Wheel arch) Saloon ones bolt just behind the 'B' Post if I remember correctly so are shorter Maybe you have Saloon belts fitted to a Convertible? Gary
  8. Some interesting comments, it seems a lot of you feel the same about the way driving standards are going. The recent changes to the rule with regards to cyclists/pedestrians at Junctions will no doubt cause yet more confusion, confrontations and also probably more accidents🥺 I'm a keen cyclist and certainly won't be riding any differently, I try and keep my eyes peeled at all times, especially at junctions and have had a number of near misses and Incidents on the road. The new rules regarding junctions and Cars giving way to cyclists/pedestrians seems a recipe for disaster to me. Gary
  9. A modified Triumph 2000 Engine with Triple SU's and Extractor Exhaust manifold I would guess? Although I've never seen any close up Under bonnet Photographs of 6003 VC in 2 Litre Guise.
  10. Another one I've never seen, interesting Louvres on the bonnet top to let the heat out?
  11. Mike According to the Robson Book it was leaking Fuel that started the fire? Regards Gary
  12. Great Photo's again Mike😊 I've only ever seen the one Photo of the highly modified 2 Litre Vitesse used on the Liege Rally and that was in the Graham Robson book
  13. Is it just me getting older or do the standards of driving seem to be getting worse these days? I know the volume of traffic is greatly increased, but I'm constantly amazed by some of the things I see whilst commuting the 20 miles or so to work, there seems to be an Incident or accident more or less daily! The thing I've noticed the most though is people running Red Lights, I don't mean going through when they are changing and on Amber I mean blatantly going through on Red!!😒 There is one particular Roundabout with Traffic Lights on my commute through Derby where it is a normal daily occurrence I can't recall people doing this on a regular basis when I started driving back in the 1980's? What do you all think? Gary
  14. That's a 1964 Alpine Series IV or Mk1 Tiger with out the Stainless side trim, the earlier Cars had multi-row Grilles? There is no doubt both the Alpine and Herald for some part where heavily influenced in the styling department by the Ford Thunderbird from 1955. Gary
  15. The correct profile Door seals are 'J' Shaped, originals had furflex were they clipped on to to match the interior of the car on the 13/60's and Mk2 Vitesses (Black, Shadow Blue, Matador Red or Light Tan) Bill at Rarebits for Classics used to supply very similar profile seals but I don't believe he's trading these days? The additional 'P' Shaped seal was I believe only fitted on the later 13/60 & Mk2 Vitesse's, it was glued to the 'A' Post and dropped down to just above the Door Light Switch (Later Spitfires, Tr5's, Tr6's and Stags had a similar seal) On the Saloon this 'P' Seal ran for around 4" or so over the top of the Quarterlight too. Regards Gary
  16. There is some useful information on the door Window and Quarter light fitting and adjustment in the attached Herald, Vitesse Body fitting notes which may help you? I know when I re-assembled my Door fittings and re-fitted to the car it was very time consuming getting everything to fit correctly and for the windows to wind up and down smoothly I had issue with the top of the Quarter light frame catching the top of the Windscreen surround ('A' Post) I had to put spacers under the rear body mountings to tilt the front bulkhead slightly to stop this Mine was a convertible though so I suppose years of having the Hood up and down may have caused this. 17. Great Photo's Mike Is the other car in the Second Photo a Turner Sports Car? Looks like the 3rd Photo must be in Deepest Wales somewhere PS - Can I ask are you the same Mike Costigan who wrote the Guide to Originality book on the Herald/Vitesse? Regards Gary
  18. WOW! That looks absolutely Mint. Priced accordingly though 🤔
  19. Paul You could make a weekend of it? https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=2ahUKEwiSzdqr8Mz1AhUMV8AKHcuuDK8QFnoECAgQAQ&url=https%3A%2F%2Fpeakrun.weebly.com%2F&usg=AOvVaw1UWGK-gzSSLmH-XruAl_GL Gary
  20. Mike They may be at the Gaydon Museum in the Archive at a Guess? Gary
  21. Yes, lets see an update please Ian?
  22. Pete And the 'C' Posts too? Not much painted metal on display in the interior of a Vitesse, apart from the edges of the Doors and a few other minor areas? Here's an Image I found of a Saloon Interior Regards Gary
  23. Yes, the strips ran down each side of the Windscreen on the Vitesse Saloons, not fitted on Heralds According to this link, the Newton Commercial kits for the Vitesse show them, are you sure they haven't sent you an Herald kit? https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=2ahUKEwjnpdbQusL1AhUBoVwKHUDOA78QFnoECAsQAQ&url=https%3A%2F%2Fnewtoncomm.co.uk%2Fproducts%2Ftriumph-herald-vitesse-saloon-headlining-kit&usg=AOvVaw2M_qsb5dJ7BXszasOGl63t Regards Gary
  24. Colin Just be aware that the original seals where a 'U' Section not the normal 'O' Section supplied by most of the usual suppliers? You may experience door shut trouble with the 'O' Type This one from Woolies is a similar shape to the Original but only in Black by the looks of it. https://www.woolies-trim.co.uk/product/1285/door-seal Gary
  25. Colin It does look white, maybe it is masking tape that's not been removed? I know the fixings screws for the Bonnet catches are painted body colour originally.
