  1. It shouldnt need to be too tight as the rubber washer stops the front nut from coming undone while the metal plate corners have dug into the back of the dash, which is quite soft, to hold the switch🤞
  2. Yes as Straightsix doesnt sound like hes going to use the standard hubcaps I wonder what other options are available to cover the centre hole as pretty ugly otherwise. Cant just be a flat plate, assuming theyre available in the correct diameter, as the hub centres need to protrude through...
  3. The plate is pretty tough spring steel I think so as not to deform when tightening the front nut. Then problem with undoing complete dash is that you might also have to undo other stuff like speedo, choke and heater cables to allow sufficient movement...
  4. yes you have to be pretty sad to beat me😂Do you think its realistic Gary getting the switch out as Ive put or drop the dash forward?
  5. This is the drawing from one of the free to download workshop manuals and although for a GT6 the installation is very similar. Item 17 is the ignition switch and its held by the front nut that has a special tool to tighten it without damaging its chrome. However if that square castellated plate isnt present between the rear of the dash and the switch body (locked tight by the inside nut) so that its corners dig into the wood then the switch will always tend to rotate. Can you not get a hand up behind, undo the front nut and lower the switch down to look? It might involve some gymnastics, mirrors and swearing but is the quickest method - do make sure battery is disconnected before starting and take photos if unplugging wires from the switch...
  6. Yes I binned mine many moons ago but it was just too small and uncomfortable...
  7. Surely the marking should be in white for that money or has it been nicely resprayed😂
  8. Heres the diagram of the relay again....
  9. Whatever you do DONT post a picture🤮
  10. Yes but a standard 2.5 shouldnt slip in a lighter car like the vit surely?
  11. You were lucky Colin I had a leather jacket and it was plastic - I got so much stick its affected my whole life😭
  12. Its quite possible Brett as the repeater is powered via a separate contact in the flasher. Obviously check the flasher socket and the wiring from its connector to the bulb...
  13. Yes its probably a 3 position switch with the first doing lights, via the column control, without instrument backlights (idea was not to affect your night vision when pushing on😁) and second to bring them on as well when stopped by the police...
  14. Its strange as I thought the clutch plate was the same for all 2 and 2.5 cars apart from TR6 having a bigger input shaft?
  15. Cor business opportunity there😁
  16. Ha, ha yes supaglue might sort the old one out quite well and then of course ensure the lever only moves the regulation 3 clicks👍
  17. Suppose OD cuts in and out between 2 and 3 which isnt very nice☹️

    Starter ring teeth

Easy to mix up if the starter mountings are the same😳
  19. If thats at the wheels its not bad as Triumphs figures are probably at flywheel. For me the experience isnt about speed and acceleration (Ive got a motorbike for that) but I want the smoothest, best handling and braking Vitesse possible while still keeping it standard👍
  20. Unless you have a non standard set up the switch is operated by an arm on the end of the 3 rail gear selector rod. Its operation is easily visible on the top front of the gearbox as the arm only contacts the switch button when the gear lever is lent over to the 3-4 position. Its shown in the free workshop manual👍
  21. It says above 'we may also charge a fee to buy via some adverts. The amount is dynamic'. Bend over please sir😳
  22. Heres what it says when you finally get to the terms...
  23. Yes not very clear is it, fees seem to be variable depending on how much they want to charge you! Thought eBay was bad....
