  1. Looks like theres quite a hefty radiator fan squeezed in there Mick so that will help to keep the air moving under the bonnet when stationary👍
  2. Its certainly got the radiator mounts of a Vitesse which I dont think the Heralds had as their rads were mounted further back...
  3. We are talking brushes not bushes arent we? The workshop manual shows the type with the band round it (35G?) but my my late mk1 Vitesse had the later design without band (35J?) and the brushes are completely different. In the earlier model the brushes run radially where as mine are triangular and push axially on the end of the rotor. Heres the two types as listed by Paddock for the Vitesse and note in both cases one pair have to be soldered in....
  4. Wow didnt know that, am I right about the hole in the side of the rad for the fixing? How strange it was prepared for the hose clamp and then they werent used! Think they help at idle in traffic when under bonnet temperatures can rise but not so much when moving...
  5. Yes you should have two hoses that attach to the side of the rad and draw in cooler air. The clamp shown below goes in that hole you can see in your photo in the side of the rad...
  6. Id be very surprised if it hasnt already got some as it comes with the kit and looks to have been done properly...
  7. Great. Sounds like it needs a complete tune up to get it starting better but its good to go through the complete list of settings so you know where you are and any problem you then might get is unrelated to those👍
  8. If your still unsure Mack the KE10001 and later engines used dome top pistons to go with the new cylinder head design so you should be able to see or feel yours are flat through the spark plug holes...

  10. According to Canleys flat up to KE10000 so I think thats good enough to do your order...

  12. Thats right Mick, with this type of unit theres nothing else. This is good for looks and simplicity but possibly bad for the cooling of the electronics... Be aware that when swopping between the module and points the ignition timing will probably need resetting. Because of this I have bought just a spare module (11 pounds ebay) which I can install by the roadside, undoing the little allen screws and so hopefully leaving the timing unaffected...
  13. Colin with this upgrade I know the air blast will be more powerful but does the air come out warm enough? I suspect with my heater output the temperature would be quite low...
  14. The thing is they can take readings from the OBD already but Im not sure theyre actually sending the associated vehicle identity info direct to DVLA yet but they will...
  15. I think its still possible to test an alternative vehicle in place of the one needing an MOT but this wont be possible for much longer as the tester will be plugged into the OBD and know everything...

  18. A fraction protruding to get some solder on would be ideal - dont want to get it on the olive though👍
  19. If youre worried about the compressing the olive onto the pipe I think you could solder it instead. Then the fitting wont have to be pulled up so hard and sealing shouldnt be any problem as this is done by the olives front face and the pressure is minimal...
  20. Reckon you need one of these and it looks like its got as much of a cone for the olive as your old one...
  21. Be aware that the brake fittings are 3/8" UNF and look very similar to the new item in your photo but are obviously not the same as the bigger fuel pump component...
  22. Is it the same as the pipe connection to the fuel pump on Spitfires and Heralds, item 60176? This is 1/2" x 20 UNF and I would have thought so - it comes in brass but is listed as also for brake pipes so probably doesnt have much of an inner cone. In the end you might have to drill your own cone to better suit the olive...

    Exhaust advice

    Id be very surprised if it affected tickover as any restriction will have most affect at higher gas flows ie when doing a lot of revs so at idle the back pressure change should be negligible. However keep an eye on the wire wool as it may either disintegrate or bung up over time.... Ive installed a motorcycle adjustable tubular baffle in the end of my Vitesse single stainless silencer and it has reduced noise with no other effects.
  24. Heres a worse one but the good news is theres only one model for both doors so they are flippable. Just got to hope the undersides are good...
