Brilliant Roger...

I have a similar thing and it is good, even though you do have to chase the wheels now and again.

Thanks Pete, yes, definitely use a step drill. What I really meant was, does this method work OK with the GT6 adjusters - can you get to them OK, etc. I'm a bit confused over the different Dolomite setups described above in the thread, and just wanted reassuring that holes in the GT6 drums, with the specific GT6 auto adjust mechanism, will work OK.
It will work Roger as the set up is the same. I have a couple of mates with GT6's who always moaned about their handbrakes, both can now lock the rear wheels even on a dry road. The main thing is to disconnect the cables when adjusting the foot brake or you will be wasting your time. There is room to drill a hole but measure up, both mates have it on their "to do" list.

I was watching a program with Drew Pritchard with classic cars, and they had incredible results from a metal polishing company in Stourbridge. All the trim on a Citroen DS came up like chrome, all for around the £200 mark. You might have a metal polishers nearer. Certainly worth taking and getting a price. The program was on Quest.

IIRC there was a 'fashionable' handle you could buy to replace the wire and customise the interior.
Dick
It was an extended chrome handle with nice piece of wood on the end to replace the wire. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-NOS-CLASSIC-INTERIOR-DOOR-HANDLES-Accessories-BMC-AUSTIN-MORRIS-MINI-Mk1/254800801975?hash=item3b534fb0b7:g:rpUAAOSw78BfDrzP Like these, but with wood were the posh ones

Pete,
Thanks. I had got that far, it’s more the next bit around how/what to remove to drain and flush. I’m happy to take the task on but not if it something that takes hours. Not that I’m too mean to pay someone more I don’t want to out in the cold for ages 🥶😤🤬.
Try this Paul, if not the right model, it will be on YouTube.

I am going to upgrade the Spit with modern signalling:
When below 50MPH & indicator stalk activated, brake lights will illuminate for a second and then the indicators will flash.
Indicators controlled from steering angle would be a bonus. Only start flashing as I turn.
If you do it Iain and it works well, try and sell the idea to BMW.

I still have self adjusters on my Toledo (Sprint axle)
Converting to manual adjusters would have required TR4 stuff, and that gets expensive.
New cylinders, and a good clean up etc of teh mechanism/backplates etc, and then, just in case, a 5/8 hole drilled in the drum for access. They adjust up OK, but I worry about getting the drums off...
They will undo Clive with a bit of extra force if you struggle to get the drums off.

I'm dieting heavily after Christmas excess and battering the running machine a lot; hopefully I'll soon be a semi-colon.
I would put a full stop to that Colin.

The old fashioned way (customer with no money) was along piece of wood under door then jack up small bit at a time till door shuts nicely. Not the correct way, but it does work...

The Rabbit solution does work as i have done the same on a Dolomite. Also disconnect handbrake cables either side before doing it. Said Dolomite can now lock the back wheels and leave rubber on the road.

Yes, all this technology in cars now. It took me about 3 months to notice that my Yeti hadn't got a CD player, it has other sockets that I'm not even sure what the symbol means. 🙄
Have you looked for one Chris, my Golf has one in the glove box. And my previous Touran that i thought didn't have one was hidden behind a piece of trim on the dash..... I felt i a tight tw*t when i said to the salesman i will be glad to have a cd player........

The last time I drove an Artic at 70mph. Was when the (56mph) limiter failed!. I was on the M180 (3 lane section) and was passing all the (other) trucks!!. When I got back I told Gaffer, By next morning the limiter was fixed again!😭
Had to explain it to the traffic comissioners as it showed on the Tacho!. Got let off with a slapped wrist!.
Had been fun for a while!.
It's not the truckers that worry me, it's white van man......

Pretty sure the new seal will be ok . To be sure I’ll put a section of inner tube in a jar of petrol and leave
Paul
If it's not ok Paul, if you have any oil filters about with a rubber seal on them? They work on fuel caps. My 2500 had the same problem and it's been on a couple of years now.

I presume it's the same with the Adaptive Cruise Control. When someone pulls out of the left lane in front of my Skodiak, and it applies the brakes to maintain the distance, I have often wondered if the brake lights are coming on. I guess they must be, for obvious reasons. It's a very disconcerting feeling when the vehicle takes over - I usually leave as much of this cr*p switched off as I can.
They do come on Roger, i was thinking the same so i had a pal follow me. (Golf SV)

My modern is auto and hand brake comes on when i stop. also the brake lights come on..... It doesn't bother me if the lights are on in front. If it will stop one tw*t from running in the back of me great...... Three times i have had people run in the back of me when stationary, the last time giving me severe spinal injuries and believe me it f*cking hurts. So keep your brake lights on..... It might be you next time, i even put my hazards on if i am last in queue...

Nah, doesn't come close to a classic Land Rover. EP everywhere, can leak from all four wheels, steering swivels, diff casings, gearbox, transfer case, L/H ratio box, overdrive....
Now they do leak oil worse than a Triumph
