Sending stuff out is far easier than getting it in... there'll be no customs fee as it's within the UK; it's only goods coming in that require Certification and there just isn't the manpower or resources to do it.
That's good news, Thanks Colin.

Havent had much if anything from the USA, since I sold the R-V. But prior to that there was always a charge when the R-M had to take import duty payment, "to cover administration costs". There are work arounds but they involve being "economical with the truth".
When i sell to states i get asked to be economical Although postal cost's are now very expensive.

I have always had respect for fuel tanks having watched older apprentices "setting" them off on disused land. The bang was incredible especially if someone had put a small bag of acetylene in before hand. It seemed fun at the age of 15yrs fresh from school........ It did teach me not to mess with them at close range.

It didn't help matters that most people could not be bothered to set the tappets on a service.

well years ago i had a rattley 78 Talbot Alpine , typical Simca clatter , cam was like bird siht on a shaft followers well concaved
managed to win a cam from the factory but not followers, and they cost a lot so with pillar drill and wet /dry spun them to a flat finish
sold the car it lasted 100k since and stayed quiet , tappet adjusters were a bit on the limit but ...it worked till tin worm caught up
Pete
I don't believe you Pete..... A quiet Talbot Alpine.... Rubbish They were a nice comfy car though.

Nicks quite right from many of the triumph service schedules is filter change every other oil change
again all down to personal preference
filters have far more capacity then most of us will use
Pete
I have to say, like yourselves i only change the filters every second time. I am sometimes tempted to do the same with the oil as it comes out clean, but can't bring myself to chance it.

Heard that before Nick, but a lot harder to get and more expensive than the Mann 712/1 very similar filter but only one NRV flap from memory.

Hi Keith, welcome to the forum. It might sound daft but is your Herald positive earth? I fell for that once.

Tony.

You should have used 712/1 Mann filter Richard. Not sure what yours is off?

A lot of garages (me included) used to quote horrendous prices for job's that we didn't want to do.....sometimes it would be ten times what it should be. If you got the job you would have to grin and bear it

How about the "sticks and stones" theory, it's not words that cause problems, it's Mr Angry the pc and woke brigade that want to rip everybody's head off and throw it in the nearest harbour.

No 4 plug will more than likely be steamed clean, and you will only get a slight drop in compression's most of the time

It was never used, I think made just for fun. Nice to know there are intelligent people still around, somewhere - it demonstrates VW's 'values' pretty well!
Have a look at this, it's how things are getting....
