  1. Back to tappets - one of those jobs I've never been comfortable doing myself. Not sure why - probably a confidence thing, but even as an 18 year old student with little money it was a job I always paid someone to do... Doug - if it's any consolation, my tappets need doing after 3 years too! Booked in for mid Sep (along with the MoT). Gully
  2. Spitfire Graveyard have email / website issues - they've taken to social media to apologise to their customers. If you've not had an answer to an email, try phoning them. Gully
  3. Takes me about and hour and a quarter to get the tunnel out! Gully
  4. Hi Simon, Yes, we were ahead of you guys and behind the Westfield chaps who kept slowing down for burn outs - otherwise we might have got a 2nd lap in! Gully
  5. There's a few more images in my Gallery in the Silverstone album. Gully
  6. Thanks to all involved in organising the Silverstone parade lap for the GT6 and Vitesse anniversary!
  7. I didn't find any basket weave replacements - I bought course grain vinyl from Park Lane Classics, with foams from there too. However, Newton Commercial may be doing the basket weave now - read something to that effect in Triumph World. Gully
  8. I recently replaced the original seat covers on my 70/71 Mk3 GT6 (KE83) - they were basket weave. Gully
  9. The lower eyeball vents attach via L shaped brackets to the underside of the bars that form the front support of the passenger and driver glove boxes. Apologies for not being able to post a picture! Gully
  10. Thanks for the insight, Roger. All I need to do now is persuade my parents to look after our 6 year old for a week or so to allow my wife and I to head off in the GT6! All the best, Gully
  11. Hi Dave The owner's handbook covers this process for the GT6 Mk 3 - says a few drops of engine oil to the centre of the cam (felt pad under the rotor arm), a single drop to the pivot, lightly grease the cam surface and pour one teaspoonful of engine oil through the hole in the plate. Repeat every six months or 6000 miles - whichever is sooner. Gully
  12. My GT6 tank will blowback if I open the petrol pump to full bore. I just fill at a slower rate. I suspect it's a combination of the short filler hose, the tank baffles and faster flowing pumps than the 1970s! Gully
  13. It looks to me as though the bar is sitting too high - there's no gap on mine worth speaking of from the bottom of the front face to the carpet. The clue may be the piece of bodywork visible in your photo above the 2 - this is completely masked off on my Mk 3. Gully
  14. I think you should take on arranging classic car tours! The route looks to have been fabulous and the accommodation wonderful! How did you go about planning the trip? Thanks for the blog - really enjoyable. Gully
