  1. Well, I have to say I do not like it either. However, some of the parts are useful and for 7 quid, I'll make use of most of it! Quite ridiculous to fit all that gubbins between the bowl and the unit. So... I now have freed the adjusters and lost a screw for the holder! Wish I had a magnetic Philip's! Probably need to reset the alignment
  2. Mine is 40A in the kit. My gro⁰mmets in the bowls are too small! ⁰ Looking at de-wiring the female plugs but they are not simple. something to keep me busy today. ahrgggg....just seen nonmembers post....... ... so it is a mess!!! Maybe bin it and do my own
  3. Hi guys, excuse me asking but I got one of those for about £7 last month but not fitted yet. I am confused about the Male connection provided with it. I understand the two females need to be somehow inserted into my headlight bowl and the sealed beam unit gets plugged into them, I guess the bowl has a large rubber grommet that I remove but what's that Male connection all about? I have not studied the wiring yet but I do need a longer live from battery. Am I missing something obvious? Is it for the main and dip feeds from the column switch?
  4. please advise me how to explain that to my wife
  5. Thank you. Looks like I am solid state, with an ancient owners handbook.
  6. The handbook states there is a greasing point on top of the pump housing....???? Ok, mine has a mkiv spit engine but all ancillaries seem original. Am I missing something? Thanks you oh wise ones
  7. Ive got one of those, it Sucks AND blows leaves all over in reverse. Some only blow.... what's the point? The wind just puts them back where they were. Mine chews them up and I compost them. Good mulch for the raspberries and strawberries and turnips and carrots etc
  8. 🙇‍♂️ 1200, T cut and G3. By hand 4 layers mind.
  9. My rear end looks so much better now. I do not want that high gloss look, prefer a solid paint job that shrugs off the elements:)
  10. Cheers Colin, I don't think I have a grill surround on the 13/60.?? The smallest removable bit is the boot lid..... and I've done that!
  11. Well I must say that Paints4u were very good and a girl named Alison was very concerned for me and explained the post 1977/8 BL colour Damson WAS different to the 1970/71 Triumph 17 code. Sympathy got me no discounts off the £17 quid each cans though. Took 2 cans for the 'undercoat' on boot and two door tops, but only one can to finish off. 1 can spare and I've ordered some touch up too. Mind I think the PO has done some panels in different shades !!!??
  12. How was I to know that the BLMC Damson was not Triumph 17 Damson? Got my boot lid nicely prepared then rattle canned it. Only to find it was so much darker ! Stupidly I carried on to the door top. Boy, was that too much! I had thought my paint was just faded, but no.....wrong paint. Got some 17 and redid them. So much better. Needs a bit of 1200 and G3 to finish off. Hope I don't rub through to the 'undercoat' !
  13. Ha ! Newcastle not even mentioned ! We still use potatoes up our exhausts.....and I have a hybrid ! Cat probably worth more than the car ??
  14. This is confusing me ! (Hopefully just an age thing)....if the piston (and jet) are 'down' surely the mixture is weakest. You need the jet 'up' for more fuel. The damper oil resists the jet rising so it would be thinner oil for more fuel. Allowing the jet to rise more quickly???
  15. the wife likes it too. Note it still has GTX in it, from the 60's Boy, has that nozzle seen some interesting places.
  16. This post is a year old! Resurrected for some reason by Wagger to push his sons tools my ujs are fine now, thank you all.
  17. Yes, as Peter says. I found I had to pre-set the pendulum before fitting as the adjuster was not accessible when fitted. That was a bit of a fiddle but oh so worth while. It is so much more convenient just to pull the belt over and clip in. So much free movement to reach anything, as long as you do it slowly. Statics are a nightmare and if you leave them so slack as to be able to reach controls, i believe they will cause injury if you impact anything!
  18. Your going to cut the roof off????? NOoooooooo. I know you wanted a convertible but NOoooooooo. You can buy mine
  19. Last v5 change Aug 2012. It is sorn. Sad to see it like that.
  20. Like ChrisA I have a 13/60 cv and really enjoy the open top aspect, however, it is all sorted now and I fancy another 'project' so am looking for a vitesse cv that needs a bit fettling. I would regard that as a step forward....?? Upward....??. Problem is, what next... stag? I recomend just going for the 13/60cv or even a 1200cv, depending on how 'hands on' you are. Good luck whichever way you go. Oh p.s. I have a spare hardtop if your stuck outdoors
  21. Yea! It's been a nice walk round the zoo
  22. You know what, if I had not started this thread I would not believe how it has wandered..... but I like it! A quick flick through the posts and I seem to think I have an isotropic wife with a high temperature, and unique properties who can differentiate between catalytic and non catalytic emissions.. so who needs an MoT tester? Plus.... I dare not fart anywhere near her!
  23. This is oh so true!! she gets 'flashing light' and I am not allowed any 'flavours' in my Vaps. and after a workout she orders me to shower I'll have a word Maybe I can hire her out to a per-fumier or such like
  24. No. She is quite savvy and was, in a previous life, a sniffer dog for the FBI At least her nose was. She is so sensitive, eg. if someone is using a clothes softener in their washing machine she walks across the road to avoid it !!
