  1. Don't know about you lads but I am annoyed at the extra cost of the E5. It is 6p/Lt more up here at 161. Bit unfair is it not? Must be cheaper to produce? Also, what's your take on supermarket fuels v the likes of Shell etc? Is it worth saving a few pence/Lt?
  2. Aaaah ! Thanks Pete. Do not want to remove the tank if possible. I just want to replace the tube like I have done with the 'up and over' (it is very smelly in the boot), I reckon my old tubes were perforated. I'm covered up to 15%E but still using 5E. Can you not just ease and bend and pull it over and out???
  3. If you go to the bottom of the post and click on "follow" it gives you options to get notifications either daily or when replied to etc
  4. Could someone please describe how to remove (and replace) the pick up pipe (13/60 vitesse tank) I'm not sure what to grip and how much leverage to apply The 'reserve' handle works fine but feels like it may distort if too much force applied. I have not studied the nuts involved in too much detail yet. Cheers guys ATB
  5. BW, just a quick note to say the remote refurbish is a doddle to do. It was my first job when I got Plum and after 50 odd years of NOT doing much mechanical repairs, it was no problem. Just make sure you use the right bushes in the right holes
  6. fuel and ferry paid..... no problems What I am meaning is I can look at it, verify value and collect, then post on . I am sure you are aware of that although, with drift it is hard to be sure who is on this planet some days..!! ??
  7. Thanks folks. Coldest....of course and I was unaware that the oil feed came from the rear! Interesting. I will monitor my valve guides. My compressions are all good at +/- 2% No4 does fire up after a few minutes so I suspect Dave is right. Too cold today for any maintenance.
  8. In my limited experience my thoughts are 1 - club shop ?? 2 - not done it but access from below as well. 3 - it is the way it is it's not that time consuming I have found. You get used to it. Nice to see someone from up north
  9. Not getting out much in the 13/60, just the odd short run. Yesterday only 3 cylinders firing on start up. Took ages to clear to 4. Checked this afternoon (after blood test pre chemo tomorrow) and found No. 4 all oiled up...... why that one? Coldest? What's your analysis guys?
  10. The damn local fireworks woke me from my chemo induced stupor at 2345 but I nodded off again @0015 so not too bad. I hope you all have a better year than last. You have all inspired me to re-establish my tool kit and to partake in knuckle stripping ventures far beyond my capabilities BUT I have loved it. The car is now as good as it gets, which is great as my capabilities have fallen to zero and may not return All the best to you all and please bear with my occasional moan (the wife wears earplugs now)
  11. No seat belt mounting points on the 13/60 CV
  12. Nice one ! I'll try that. I had used both the meerkats and compare the market where More Than stood out and one offers £150 of vouchers.!! Not signing up 'till new year so still shopping about. Cheers
  13. Just had my renewal from the AA for my CR-Z.........£202.60 !!! up nearly 20% on last year A long phone call later, got it down to 188. Said NO and it came down to 175 I then went to More Than with whom I insure the house and contents. .... 141.24. this is '5*' as well. ............shows what half an hour on the phone can do As an aside, my little Amica is 140 (with AA) and Plum is £80 with Lancaster
  14. Cheers guys, just woke up and aches not so bad. Yea, I've seen the options/methods used in the other posts but my thoughts were to do it over a longer time period, many months and see if I can pull a bit of slack every few days. However, Colins reply has made me rethink and I need to find a better anchor point. .... I'll look into it when a bit better....I'm so BORED, all this lying about and mollycoddling
  15. Hi guys, been thinking of some light work I could attempt whilst I am laid up and was wondering your thoughts on ratchet strapping my Herald CV to 'pull' back into line? The passenger door bottom only protrudes about 10mm, if that, I was looking just to hook the straps over the inner rail in the hood well, beside the B post and putting some tension on and then increasing it daily. I'm worried this might just rip the weld/fitting apart as opposed to pulling the post back in. Any comments/suggestions please? P.S. 9 days into chemo, they have reduced my treatment levels as it was causing me too much intestinal pain and peripheral neuropathy boy that hurt. ATB and merry xmas.
  16. Don't breath the fumes when your looking in
  17. All sorted. Old pump fine. Embarrassed to say it was all caused by a split pie, tank to hard PIE?? ummm must be xmas pie
  18. Get your drift, yes, shorter movement definitely reduces pressure build up but of course reduces volume passing through. Pleased my old one is OK! (Well I hope so)....must test that too. I know it sucks at about 2psi but not tested push yet as I was exhausted.
  19. Yea Johny, I set up a test and can 'adjust' the pressure down to 2 psi just by spacing out the lever from the cam action. After all of that I'm putting the old one back on as my problem was a split pipe!
  20. Yes. I now have two new Rimmers pumps pushing 4.5psi..... anyone need? My old one pushes <2.5 so is going back on!
  21. So are the outlet and pipework all 1/4" on the small tank and 5/16" on the larger vitesse and late 13/60? My late 13/60 has 5/16 outlet and also the first pipe section then reverts to 1/4 for all the rest !!
  22. Perhaps that is the plastic sleeve PeteH refers to?
  23. Right, thanks. It must be vitesse/late 13/60, which it is. Therefore 5/16" outlet. Typical that I got 1/4" rubber to renew it with eeeeh well.
  24. Had a bit of a 'woopsie' with a pipe full of petrol and it spilt all over my trews! Wife eventually chased me out into the garden ( 3 degrees) and I had to strip off and, after emptying my pockets, I hung them on the line. She says she is allergic to petrol smell....ha, I sneaked my smelly hankie in :)....does it rot cotton?, do the fumes cause any problems? I'm rambling . Bear with me.... I meant bare !
