  1. Brilliant ! Really pleased for you, well done. We will have to get biscuit and plum together some time, we can make jammy dodgers ......??
  2. not mine! I had a small rumble first, then the clankety rattle. The pully was on its way off, the fan was loose. Pity I had not thought to carry some spare nuts in the car...... surprised it happened as the washer is sprung !
  3. Woosh....what is that noise?? Squeeking rattle at engine revolution related. Gently, at low revs back home (2 miles away)........Damn dynamo nut has disappeared, making pulley and fan flop about! Washer lying on chassis rail! I have had a 'noise from that area and as the dynamo is 'new' I thought my water pump was on the way. Pleased it happened really because after replacing the nut, as all is now sweet and quiet :) Anyone got a spare 9/16 nut ( I've used my last one!) and do you know what to torque it too? Do I just gently jam the fan blades to tighten?
  4. it was someone on here who told me it was Toledo when I quoted the 'box number last june/July time. I took it as gospel.... I'll see if I can find the post later on Yes, I got a good buy..... after sorting the rear roller bearing, the carb and the dizzy! Just tidying the paintwork now and I will probably look for another 'project' (need to sell the 13/60cv first though) I have 2 other cars and a non compliant wife box is a DG106119, Pete said possibly 1300 Toledo
  5. Looks like I fell on my feet with my 13/60cv that i purchase last year then! Unbeknown at the time, it has a recon. Spit mk IV engine (27k) and a Toledo overdrive gearbox I had a couple of spit4s in the early 70s and a 1600 vitesse cv too. Did not appreciate them at the time. Couldn't get in/out a spit now Maybe a vitesse next but you all seem to say they are very 'heavy'??
  6. ?? I thought you had a Vitesse Paul ??
  7. 😃 the only 4 seater, (topless) lightweight I can get in and out of. 1296cc 61 bhp.
  8. I hope Julian does not mind me mentioning that he is away for a few weeks and we are hoping to meet up early November. Personally I think his choke use is causing the problem and with my 1970s experience with spitfires and my 2020 experience with the mk3 in my herald, I'm sure we can find the best setting and cure his richness
  9. Julian, send me a PM., I'm just along the road and can pop along for a natter. Two heads etc etc.
  10. I've just picked up on this post. Nice to see something related to the cars and not 'politicised etc etc Sorry to be so ignorant but does this relate to rear trunnions as well? No need for rubber rings and steel covers? The seem to be 3x? the price but as I am on holiday at the moment, I haven't time to flick back and re read all. Thanks for any input Jeff
  11. Ahhh! I see Tynemouth was actually in Scotland I knew I was confused. Hadrians wall and the tyne are a major barrier to my trips south. och aye the noo. Haware man!
  12. 4' head to tail ? Must have been a cub. Tiger Cub....200cc 4 stroke, big step up from a BSA Bantam 175cc 2 stroke (D7) which I made in 1967 ...6 posts to a stripe
  13. He found a tiger's head one dayNailed to a piece of woodThe tiger looked quite miserableBut I suppose he shouldJust them from out the windowA voice began to wailHe said "oi, where's me tiger's head?""Four foot from 'is tail!"
  14. Wow! That's 30 bob cheaper than screwfix :) thanks
  15. Tried to 'borrow' some petrol from my 'modern' 2010 Honda CR-Z but found the pipe will not enter the tank! All sorts of gubbins down there. Probably Anti theft as well. Even mu 2007 Amica has such a sharp bend, I can only get a 3 mm pipe down Where did you get that from Paul? Looks handy.
  16. As recommended, after cleaning his bottoms, I squirted some talc (well, Johnson baby powder, apparently talc is carcinogenic!) The bottle has a dozen little holes round outside but still squirted in lumps! Went for a 2 mile run and back up on ramps....... nothing. Must need a longer run! Drips were from just behind gearbox drain plug and from the bellhousing joint. Plus the central chassis was well oiled Longer run tomorrow.
  17. There is an opportunity for PeteH to get his 2000th post! I too was a cynic but now am a partial believer. The world is a fragile place, let's get out into the galaxy/universe and find somewhere else to rip apart
  18. I have an electric smart meter, it is very handy to point out when the wife is using the tumble dryer or any appliance, just how much it is costing. I have saved money since installation because we can now see what is being used and we switch more things off than before British Gas cannot connect a smart meter as we get our electricity from Eon...??? Gas did install a new meter however, I threw a wobbler when my (self calculated) consumption nearly tripled !!! Then realised it was in cubic meters and not cubic feet and my decimal places had been ignored.... we still use the same amount of gas, nigh nicking
  19. If your paying less than £8 a gallon, take the vitesse (roughly, in my head )
  20. Ahhh too many bevies ... I meant brown/blue or brown/ black. I too get dizzy looking at the 'index but after a few hours, tend to remember.... until the next time !!!
  21. 11 to 22.... is that green/brown or green/black?
  22. ! 99p Good buy ahhh..... reserve not met! I have a spare one but you got to talk < 400 these days.... plus a ton for delivery, ???
