  1. Hello All I converted to a Denso Alternator on our Spitfire 1500 and Mk1 Vitesse I went for the 45amp I think they are and you can get at No1 plug now Plus the other reason is we tour in Spain etc and I could get one anywhere if needed! Roger
  2. Hello Colin When we got back last year a few weeks later they offered us discounted sailings for this year so we took a chance and booked So we Sail from Plymouth to Santander and back with a cheap inside cabine(its only less than 24hour crossing!) All for £671 !!! It would cost more to drive down through France and its a bloody long way so you would need a longer trip if you still want 2 weeks in Spain? Roger
  3. Hello Danny Those are the ones I have ordered but all black I have replaced all the foam but drivers one is a bit Saggy (Like the Driver!) so I will add something to it. All the feed back on the site looked good and at £90 its not the end of the world if they are not perfect!! But you seem to think they are or very close to it. Roger ps had a run out with 2 TR6's today and no Memsahib so the old RED mist could come down a bit!!
  4. Hello All A small Bottle! of vino and I thought sod it and they are ordered a bit less for the kids to spend when I kick the bucket (and they have had plenty believe me !!) They both would not be living where they are now if it was not for us! but my Mother was just as good to us on a lesser scale and as she said there is no pockets in Shrouds! Plus if we give it all away the state will have care for us instead of us paying for ourselves(I am not bitter! yes I am I paid in for 40!!! years and have been shafted BIG Time along with others who did the right thing and not P***sed up the wall?) Still Spain in 3 1/2 weeks and another adventure ? So come on all you Young people push the bounderies a bit and try it before you get to old! I promise once you get into it you Will enjoy it or money back(he said with fingers crossed behind his back!!) As you can tell a bit inubriated (what Me?) but life is short ? Sorry about the gloom but on a brighter note out on a thrash with 2 TR6's Tomorrow (Spitty can hold her own up to 60 ish as I recon she has best part of 100 bhp now and No Memsahib with me tomorrow as well! and new Shock Absorbers plus TR6's weigh a lot more so power to rate ratio is not that bad ? Plus overdrive on 2nd really works on twisty hills! Roger
  5. Hello Doug I am not being picky but £90 compared to £346 plus p&p as I said it is not a Konkers car and not sure I would live long enough to get my wear out of them? Roger (The poor Pensioner!!)
  6. Hello All My drivers seat base cover split today!! Now I know Park Lane Classics are top quaily but there will be a lead time and we are off to Spain in 3 1/2 weeks! So iI could do with a quicker fix? I have been Trawling Fleabay and saw these at a very cheap price! Now I know they will not be top quality(but neither an I at 77.5!!!!!!) and Spitty is not a Conkers car She get used (6,500 miles last year!) So I recon if they last 2 to 3 years at that price would be ok The foams I changed a few years ago and I can beef up the drivers one that is a bit Saggy (like me?) Triumph Spitfire & GT6 Seat Covers Black Vinyl with headrest covers PAIR | eBay So any thoughts please Roger ps Spain last year
  7. Hello MrHappy! I have a Vitesse Mk2 one but it is unknown condition so I would say it is for rebuilding Not sure how many bits on it ? I think I haver a distributor with tacko drive I may have a starter somewhere nut sure about a dynamo and without lookingat can not rember if carbs are there? But I could do with moving it on but I and in the midlands by J4 M5!! Roger
  8. Hello The Spitfire is us Plus we are off to Spain again this year before we get to old (77,5 and 74!) As my old mother said once you give something up you will never start it again! We think she is right ! Me and the Memsahib will have tiffs/arguments/etc but a bottle of vino later and all will be ok We will do the usual blog thingy ! We are going to do Castles etc and a bit of Pyreneers so what could go wrong? As I say the worst that could happen is you come home on the back of a breakdown truck So be brave and use your old cars as they so much more fun than the Shoping ones And trust me you will love it or money back ! Roger and the Memsahib ps just a taster and they love classic cars we have so many children and adults sit in Spitty you would not believe! Plus we think the Spanish are very friendly people not like the French! Plus they love Classic Cars because they are rare due to tax!
  9. Info Electric Cars and Vans from Stevens Vehicles Roger
  10. The one is a fuel cooler as I run ITB EFI The one fan rarely comes on but was useful last year in Spain in about 40 degs The one that comes on first blows over the exhaust side to help bring the under bonnet heat down Roger
  11. Hello All This how I did Spitty years ago 2 fans and a duel radiator switch and it works a treat even when touring Spain in the heat I have a centre off over ride switch with leds Roger
  12. Hello Cliff We covered 6421miles this year. We went to Spain in June 1900miles Spa 6 hours September 1200/1300 miles. Plus out most Wednesdays with a small group of friends. On the Spain trip we were averaging 48/49 MPG!!!! But we had a lambda sensor fail and with the new one and having to remap the EFI we are only getting 40mpg? (I will sort it out in the spring!) We do have overdrive and it is a 28% unit so good for cruising on motorways. Plus we run EFI with ITB's so can tune it for better cruising! Plus the engine is fully balanced and ported and has a Newman PH2 cam (Fast road) and the block is decked with piston pop up etc Roger
  13. Hello Danny The 300 is listed as the stroke Roger
  14. Hello Alan I will have another look tomorrow at the other one just to check the numbers. You could email the manufacturer and quote all the numbers and ask what the pressure is? Roger
  15. Hello Alan Mine are these NS-FF-8-300 Fixed Force Gas Strut (metrol.com) I can not see what the pressure is this is all the numbers Metrol Springs ltd +44101604499332 NS-FF-8-300 22/10 19036 PO 31385 They mearsure 670mm CRS open 380/390mm closed They came from the Club Shop Roger
  16. Hello I will look tomorrow and I know there is a part number one them(if I can read it?) Roger
  17. Hello It is KT182517 (Ithink the numbers give it away?) Roger
  18. Hello All This is the size bearing I used it is 3mm longer than the Triumph one and if you fit the thin spacer at the spline end with the chamfer outwards to go next to the splines it all fits and gives 3mm bearing surface Or about 22% more bearing surface which has got to be better in my book? Needle Roller Cages: Needle Roller Cage Assemblies (simplybearings.co.uk) Its 18mm i/d x 25mm o/d x 17mm Long Roger ps I have covered just under 20,000 miles since this mod and I had to strip the gearbox in between as a bit of NEW circlip was found on the magnetic drain plug on the winter service!!!!! The bearing was still good and the shaft I did replace it as I thought of it as a service item at that price?
  19. Hello Here you are this is what I diid in photos I will look up the number tomorrow(to cold in the garage now!) The longer needle roller did not cover the oil hole. Roger ps sorry I forgot to cut the files sizes down
  20. Hello You can fit a longer needle roller bearing if you leave the outer spacer out ! From memory it is 2 to 3m longer so runs on that bit at the end where you can see on yours no bearing runs! I have done thousands of miles since doing it and I had to strip the gearbox this year for another problem but the bearing and shaft were fine. Roger Ps I will look up the size and number later You could find a thead on the sideways forum
  21. Hello All I have used them often they are good and quick Roger ps but I always look on Fleabay for new old stock bearings of the Good makes and just regrease them with fresh grease after a wash out and you can pop the rubber type seals out easy and pop them back in if need or leave them out if needed!
  22. Hello all The Fitchetts ones are still going strong I will look later at how many mils they have done! But we have done over 6000 miles this year! (Spain and Spa 6hours etc) Roger
  23. Hello All I am talking rubbish again mine is 3/4"UNF and made of steel I use a W916/1 but a W714/2 is smaller I get mine from Eurocarspares when they have a big discount and buy 3 for about £10 to £12 Here is the Man catalog I think they the best I would not touch the white box with just a number on the side with a barge pole! I opened one of each up once and there was about 3 to 4 times more filter paper in the Man one! MANN-FILTER Online Catalog Europe - Product Details Oil Filter W 714/2 Roger ps but 20mm would still be ok as there are lots of them as well
