Hose clip pliers

The problem with now owing a “modern” car (it’s 35 years old) is that not all hoses are held in place by the veritable Jubilee clip. I’m hence in need of a pair of hose clip pliers for the likes of the hose shown in the picture.

A quick Google search shows product ranging in price from a fiver to a small mortgage.

For occasional use, any recommendations?

I have a cheapo pair  they work well but not used much these days 

same   a cheapo pair for the ones for some modern  sort of removable  Fuel line clips

I have a joggling tool (essentially a pair of mole grips with smooth, wide, stepped jaws) which work quite well for those.

If that's all (a  fiver or so) then a cheap tool for occasional use may be the best bet. You need wide-mouthed pliers, so these also work but make sure the jaws are wide enough to grip the entire width of the hose clip, so they won't fly off:

I've never had any issues using a pair of standard pliers on that type of clip (there are a couple on/around the fuel tank of at least the Mk IV/1500 Spitfire).

I`ve so far "got away" with using these. They are actually Wire/Cable cutters. But more than wide enough?.

think we all have pliers that suit certain jobs /favourites  etc 

together with the blood blisters from when things decide to fly off unexpectedly and you pinch a finger  Ha !

i have an old pair ground to hold the rear shoe spring caps
