rogerguzzi Posted September 2, 2016 Report Share Posted September 2, 2016 Hello All Here we go again off on another jolly in Spitty(We should have been going on a rail trip via France,Spain to Morocco but it was cancelled while we were on the Italian trip) We thought about a cheap and cheerful to the sun but Turkey had coup and just been to Italy and Spain last year so we have been promising ourselves to Ireland for YEARS. So that was it I found a deal with Stena line crossing Holyhead /Dublin 2 nights hotel and back from Rosslare/Fishguard we worked out a rough plan and booked the digs. I do not suppose it will be as sunny as Italy? This where we are going I will attempt to do blog thing again(might not get the sunny photos?) IRELAND SEPTEMBER 2016 5TH & 6TH S CASSIDYS DUBLIN 7TH ARCH HOUSE B&B ATHLONE 8TH & 9TH ARDN EOININ B&B SPIDDAL 10TH HILLCRESTVIEW KILRUSH 11TH, 12TH & 13TH THE GROVE LODGE GUESTHOUSE & COUNTRY CLUB KILLORGLIN 14TH BALTIMORE TOWNHOUSE GUEST ACCOMMODATION BALTIMORE 15TH AVONMORE HOUSE YOUGHAL 16TH CLIFFORD HOUSE B&B ROSSLARE This will be the last big trip before I have a go at fitting EFI to Spitty(that should be interesting?) and the new rear spring when I get it. We had a good run up except we have a noisy u/j on the nearside ( I did not hear it before but this is the first time we have had the hood up in 4000 miles!) I have a spare but do not want to fit it! rogerguzzi Posted September 6, 2016 Author Report Share Posted September 6, 2016 Hello ALL We found our hotel eventually as O'Connell is dug up and believe it or not it was hood down and roasting and manic rush hour!!!! After a rest we went out and sampled some Guinness pie and mash and a pint of the Liffey water and found some live Irish music Off sight seeing today I think I have cured the u/j take the hood down and we can not hear it! Off to Athlone tomorrow if we can find our way out of Dublin! We was up graded to a better hotel (double booked) We are getting a taste for this Liffey water! rogerguzzi Posted September 8, 2016 Author Report Share Posted September 8, 2016 Hello All We are now in An Spideal We left Athlone and went across country to Tuam and Cong and around Loch Coirib It was another day with hood down(just the odd light shower) but not hood weather! I think it will be hood up tomorrow morning at least as a storm and Gale force winds the weather man says!!!!!! Off out to eat and we have clocked a pub that has traditional music from 9.30 (we got locked in a pub in Athlone last night and left at 12.30!)after seeing 5 lots of singers/duo,s This will be the 4th night of live music (Heaven) We have so many nice compliments about Spitty and let a Spanish couple sit in and have photos taken and a small lad (it makes you feel good) it started just after we got off the ferry in Dublin man a sharp suite and an Audi said nice car! And then a lad on a motorcycle in the traffic said the same and what is it(thought about Fart rarri!) The last photo was on the pub wall last night and the gaffer said it looked if it was taken by the old bridge in A thlone but he did not know when (sorry about quality but it was under a reddish mood light?) I am not a Guinness drinker at home neither is the wife but it seems to be going down very well if a bit expensive. (No hood down today)now it is taking the p*****s blue sky and Sun!Coast was stunning even in rain roads are a BIT rough in places Off to kilrush tomorrow (via coast road)and forecast is good. Spitty rolled onto all the zero,s! (should have happened in Italy but some numpty did not fit Speedo cable properly!) We have done about 600+miles on this trip(and noisey .uj still holding up better with hood down) Off out to eat and find live music again (loving it and feel 20 years younger!) We the followed the Wild Atlantic Coast road on the dingle penisular(and O boy did it live up to its name!!!!) We went through Coners Pass stopped at the top I was nearly blown over (not kidding!) Then the catastrophe happened! My nice leather hat was blown off never to be seen again (was like losing an old friend! Its been to Spa,Le Mans, Spain and Italy) We are now at Killorglin in a very nice Hotel 750 miles covered now We did manage to drive all day with the hood down much to other peoples amusement or astonishment? All there was for breakfast was porridge? (made with cream and served with fresh fruit,honey and a small tot of Bailey's Plus all the cereals,fruit,meats,cheeses,juice various,cake(4types),scones,croissants and any cooked breakfast you want (irish,salmon and eggs,open toasted sandwich topped with cheese) etc and fresh coffee. The a hardest part was deciding what to have! We were going to go around part of the Ring of Kerry but so may coaches we doubled back and went throughout the Ballaghbeana pass and down to Sneem where we met up with friends who are going the opposite way around to us one in a TR6 and one on a Modern Triumph Tiger Off out to eat and find a pub with live music(again!)
