Colin Lindsay
I had a 3 week trip in Ireland a couple of years ago, and when I got back I could tighten most body mounting bolts a flat and a bit ! C. If they were still attached, you didn't drive correctly when you were there....

rogerguzzi
really pleased youre enjoying yourselves keep the news coming so why has nothing apart from your hat dropped off ??? Pete I found out today when I put the hood up for the night one bolt had fallen out of the offside lower pivot and the near side one had come completely loose! U/J still clicking away merrily on over run and light load goes quiet on load but does not sound any worse! Her whole rear end sounds a bit loose now! Still the new spring etc will put it right? She is still getting a lot of attention from people (it may go to her carburetors!) Roger
rogerguzzi
Hello TSSC Troups We have made our way down to Baltimore today We travelled down the N72 through molls gap (nothing much!) to Kenmare and then top road around the Beara Peninsula and thought the Healy pass were it P******d down for 30 mins (serves me right for taking the Mick out of Austin Healy!)but still amazing Then on through Bantry to Baltimore About 1100 miles covered now! Hood was only up to have a picnic! (just the job in a Spitfire with the hood up and persisting down?) We had the porridge for breakfast made with cream and extra cream and fruit and honey and don't forget the small tot of Bailey's? (I think I will get the memsahib to make this all through the winter will make working in the garage better/pleasant/fun?) U/J,s still clicking away (must use the ear plugs if hood is used!) Roger Ps this room has a fridge we are drinking chilled wine (I know its early but we are on holiday and Spitty is tucked up for the night and consumption goes up on holiday!) We saw this boat in the harbour last night and it turns out it was one off the landing craft that went to the Falklands to bash the Argies! John Bonnett
Another great holiday and a great read Roger, thank you for sharing it with us. It's quite inspirational to see how you organise your holidays and enjoy your Triumph. It bears out what I have always said. Use builds reliability. Safe journey home. rogerguzzi
Hello from Sunny Rosslare This our last night in Ireland on the 9am ferry to Fishguard. It has been a good trip and met some nice friendly people and weather has been mostly good! The drive line part I am frightened to name for fear of bad luck is still holding up and only 2 miles to ferry and back in Blighty. About 1250 miles covered now so 1500(thats a nice number) when home. Another ferry trip today that makes 4 in all plus 2 across the Irish sea. I think I have a lot of work to do on Spitty to get her in good order for next years escapades! A few more photos for you and to encourage you to do similar trips? rogerguzzi
Hello retirees and you lot that have to still do the other We are back home now and Spittys U/J did not let go(1450 miles covered) so relieved and it was a good crossing and drive home in the sun with the hood down. So all in all a Good trip (but I think the car needs bolting back together?) The roads in Wales seemed so Smooth after the corrugations of Ireland! Then just when I thought things can not get worse, the lad who house and dog sits said the Moggy Traveller is making funny(not hilarious) noises! So I thought better look at that before Spitty and found the axle had moved on the spring(rotated)? No problem I thought? get it back in line and tighten the U bolts up. I turns out the locating plates on the axle have collapsed and the nearside front spring hanger is bit rotten or the floor is to be precise! I think it will have to go as I do not have the same interest in it or the time to repair it(I would rather get our MK2 Vitesse going) Roger
