RickF
Very glad to have finally joined the club after owning a pretty ropey '72 GT6 for three years now! It is in need of some love and I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for garages/Triumph specialist with really top shelf work (particularly with bodywork) in Hampshire/West Sussex. Thanks in advance!
Clive
Welcome. Looks like a car built for a purpose. But bodywork. The best (probably) is Triumph Autoclassique in Wiltshire. There are other very good places as well, but be prepared to travel if you want somebody who knows how to fix a Triumph properly. Southern Triumph in Bournemouth have a good reputation too. I am sure others will have good recommendations too.
dougbgt6
I got new wings, sills, door skins and a respray at Beech Hill Garage 25 years ago, car still looks good. They’re mostly MG and Triumph. West of Reading towards Newbury, maybe a bit far for you? Have a look at their web site. Doug
RickF
Thanks very much for the suggestions, I will have a look at both and welcome any further suggestions! I visited M V Classics near Droxford yesterday as they advertise being Triumph specialists (the closest advertising as such). From a quick look round their workshop they seem to be pretty good but would obviously appreciate hearing from anyone who has put a car through there before. Is there a specific thread where this may be a little more relevant? I had a quick look through the "Bodywork" thread and it didn't seem quite appropriate? Nigel Clark
Welcome Rick. It's always good to see a GT6 that gets used, and I'm guessing from the pic that yours does. Nigel

Dick Twitchen
Rick, Welcome,,and does not look too ropey from here. Looking forward to meeting you at the Southern Area meets whenever they re-start. Bodywork recommendations from two chums who have used them are "ERB Motors, Claybank Spur, Portsmouth. They are specialist with classic cars and take pride in their work, family business" That one has a GT6 Mk2 they did a good job on. They are also used by another who is a serious/series classic car buff and they are currently sorting out the spraying of the second MGBGT V8 Sebring he has built. Mechanically I can recommend Lillywhite's in Emsworth. Very classic orientated and Mike races an MGB and they look after some of the Revival cars when the event is brewing/on. PM if you want more details, and use my name if you end up talking to Mike! Dick
thescrapman
Looks significantly better than any of my cars, perhaps I have lower standards... 🙂
RickF
Thanks very much for all the compliments on my car, I hope to get it tidy and running well ready for its 50th at the end of the year! The worst of the rust is on the offside and fortunately photos can't show the purely theoretical brakes, steering and electricals! I really appreciate those suggestions Dick, I have been in touch with ERB and I'm awaiting their thoughts after seeing some photos. I will get in touch with Lillywhite's when the time comes for sorting the mechanicals. I look forward to attending some meetings and seeing you there!
