yes thats rings a bell but lever arms are pricey and not that long lasting a cheap telescope is pretty trouble free . no leaks links & less bushes to wear out
and there a whole load of must have alternatives on sale

Lego tyres wont fit my 2000 will they ??? hi volume often make a low price

herald is easy its underneath N/S so is Spitty .
its the 6 pot on Vitesse that needs the tunnel out to access the nipple unless your double jointed and have a wonky spanner
to fit a remote bleed tube will need the tunnel out you wont get any access to remove the bleed and fit a remote tube
maybe "beam me up scotty would work " but im not a treker ha !
-
and club shop also sell the conversion kit from lever arm to telescopic
and its far easier to work on the rear wishbone/suspension with a CV shaft rather than have to fight the silly tension you get with the doughnuts having to be distorted to fit.
so think yourself lucky

i have never had a remains fail with the chuck type stud removal/refitting tool they are bullet proof .
its one of those tools you remember how good it is a long time after you forgot the cost
if its sheared flush then its just drill it in stages
most other tools are made to sell but not made to work

we had a local with a 2ltr Vitesse with 20 yr old tyres it would spin the wheels in top gear at 40mph
worrying and dangerous they did get replaced
but apart from being black and round they were hard and more of a skate that a tyre
the amount of tread is the minor part of how a tyre grips the compound goes like a hard nylon
very nasty but looks good dont do it tyres are all you have between tarmac and the ditch or the morgue
keep safe be sensible

you dont need to waste money on lead addatives there is years of lead memory in the heads valve seating
just buy good fuel ie 97ron+
you can fit the pump the wrong side of the cam so it does not pump well
replacement pumps have a poor reputation for poor performance or vastly excessive pressure
one place to look is the short hose hidden in the boot from the tank suction pipe these are ignored go hard, suck air but dont leak fuel as they are above the head of fuel , well worth a look on any H or V for fueling issues .

hardest is getting the rim and glass to release the old rubber rings grip well and often sticky
you can lube the main shaft the oddo roll worm etc never take take the needle off the hair spring will unwind and you
have no idea what tension is needed
dont grease or get anything sticky on the magnet and drive disc just a a blast of brake cleaner
if oiling the needle pivot bearings a drop of oil on a cocktail stick to use as small dropper helps
pete
failing that its send to Speedy Cables or JDO

E5 97+ron has little ethanol in it (Esso has none ), they are not designed to run well onE10 95 ron was for mowers and side valves of the day
any messing with fuel lines will make the dreaded rubber slivers that get cut off when inserting metal tubes
can drive you mad as they float about and block the back of the float needle valve
providing the dizzy vac unit has not a failed spring inside which allows the base plate to move al over the place the vac unit in good nick will not affecter performance just economy it works most at cruising throttle openings and does nothing at full throttle .
club shop sells Gates Barricade hose in 1/4" and 5/16" sizes

agree cast bell HSg weighs heavy ,
the electronic idea is most are just electronic switching rather than mechanical switching
you get what you pay for from accuspark very cheap to aldon /petronix /lumenition far more expensive
all need to know just what dizzy you have the base case will have numbers stamped in to identify
these kits are not universal and are dedicated to the guts of the unit /base plate
way up the costs / points they have lasted over 50yrs and all you gain is you dont have to check the gap
the gear remote is very different to the Std 8 but would have thought the base gear case is similar??
so hole in florr would need modifying but the stand off of the ally integral vs cast is the same i think
its long time since i played with 8/10s

what a shame puglet now has to turn his car australia fashion
the advantage is he can now paint the chassis Ha !
the lifted doesnt need to be brick sh1thouse but reasonably stout mine was home made from 1" solid bar its too heavy
open box seems best

the bolt just has the tube slid over it its a loose fit as said acts as a anticrush tube does very little to affect the box/spring operation
but have seen a few bent bolts
often the rubber top pad is disintegrated even poly pads dont seem to last
Pete
-
that looks as it should , wont pull down till you fit and secure the studs leave the centre through bolt loose till is sat on its wheels
Pete
-
will those stud extractors shear a rusted bolt well thats a risk all types of removal wil face
last used mine on Dougs head stud which were gorilla fitted and with two of us on a 3ft breaker bar worted without fail
yes any extracot cn damage threads if there are any but these with a chuck grip fully and allow high levels of torque
to be applied without any slippage
they just work well

i would get to know your car before you start buying Must haves
there are problems with inertia belts in that the ride is a bit choppy compared to a modern an myself and others may find the belts tighten up on your shoulder as you progress the advantage is you can reach the ign key , you wont in statics
electronic just changes a mechanical switching to a electronic switching points are cheap (even the good ones) and last
many miles electronics really just save you checking the gaps
can be worthwhile but not essential
ii would drive it for a season then open the wallet with care the cars dont have to be Original but some Must haves are
just their to give you a headache
have fun get the smile it will serve you well
Im sure others will have views on seat belts

and do not gorilla the hinge bolts the caged nut plates are thin and strip so easy
if stripped you can drill 8,3mm and tap 3/8 unf or go for a metric but hinge holes will need opening up
getting at the cage plates is a nightmare to change them

just needs a stout clamp arrangement to fit around the spring so you can actually get enough leverage to raise the load of
the spring and doughnut a cable tie wont suffice !!!

the pump studs are also longer to accommodate the spacer on a long armed pump
do the simple first if you let the engine idle the fuel pipe should(when disconnected) give a well defined squirt into a jam jar
is so leave alone
if its a weak one need to investigate
do check the mentioned fuel hoses from the tank and check the tank to pump line is not full of debris
which normally will collect some in the pump cavity
