  1. Starting bid £30 , interesting postage at £5.57 first class royal mail https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/triumph-vitesse-engine/265041181916? Paul
  2. Hi Dave , yes it did have an effect and the boot gap on drivers side is improved. There was a lot of creaking and it was a tad disconcerting . I plan to use the stretcher again to assist when the B posts straps are in place . Paul
  3. The first screws which turned out to be rivets are out by drilling . There is a gap between the top of the sill and body floor which had been filled with filler so just for ascetic reasons . Sealer would have done a better and neater job Paul
  4. Just about to bite the bullet and attempt to correct the Drivers door gap on my Vitesse Saloon . This is part of the long term project to attempt to correct body tub spread . The passenger side gaps are more equal though evidence of body tub spread ie bottom of doors proud First stage is to remove the sill which is easier said than done as none of the screws are visible as covered in filler . The sill is in good order so not sure why filler was necessary . So looks like making a mess to start with . I have replacement sills so at least I know where to dig to find the screws With the sill removed and prior to jacking the body ( chassis bolts removed ) will I need to remove the saloon roof ? Any tips n tricks welcome Paul
  5. Just checked mine on my Vitesse 11/16 af Paul
  6. That’s correct . I’ve connected the bellows to a Hoover pressure switch which turns on the washers . Originally this conversion was down to Darren Groves Paul
  7. Thanks Pete . I’ll take the other side off first before I start to play Paul
  8. Hi , thought the following might be of interest to others who are refurbing their Vitesse , Herald doors . The pic above shows the quarter light stripped down , the mid item is the old window runner channel removed , the inner padding has rotted away so scrap. The lower item is the Canleys replacement part no 559474 . This is a flexible channel which will be glued into the quarter light channel The above pic is the rear window channel with the replacement Canleys rear window channel part no T2. ( lower item ) The 3 brackets need removing and riveted to the new channel To replace both doors with new front and rear channels cost £20.33 deld from Canleys , not a bad price to cure rattly windows Hope this helps Paul
  9. I would check the chassis , especially the outriggers as these are susceptible to rust , also check the boot plus the drivers , passenger floors , also wheel arches . A good clean and polish could remove some of the rust stains .What did your Father tow ? Paul
  10. From the MOT history the mot expired in March 2020 , to get the best price would suggest getting this done . The MOT history shows significant mileage variations which would need explaining to a potential buyer as currently the mileage doesn’t make sense unless the speedo was changed regularly Paul
  11. Thanks Pete didn’t see the B and I 😱 Paul
  12. Hi just setting testing the 3 fuel gauges I have to see if that is the weak link . I found a spare stabiliser , the one on the Vitesse is a digital version . The voltage out put from the mechanical stabiliser was pulsing from 5 to 10 ish , difficult to read as pulsing was fast . Is this what should be happening . With the stabilised voltage I can test the 3 gauges to see if this is the issue On the pic one of the terminals is painted red , I’ve assumed this is positive input or doesn’t it matter ? Paul
  13. The V is a split !! I did use the cap before but stopped when it was mot time . I will check to make sure there’s no vacuum Paul
  14. Following suggestions I placed a section of inner tube in petrol , partially submerged . 2 weeks plus later and the inner tube is still fine so will now fit the refurbed petrol cap Paul
  15. Just checked the MOT history for JFS 92D . Chassis corrosion is mentioned on 2011 so would need to check the work done Paul

  19. In 2018 we went to the Gordon Bennett Rally and extended the trip with checking out sections of the Wild Atlantic Way This pic taken County Clare , some of the roads we’re challenging ! To help with planning we used There’s a book for Ireland and many other countries . Try Amazon and purchase second hand as it’s likely to be well thumbed by the time you finish . I f you choose Ireland I can let you know the route we took plus B & Bs we would recommend. Paul
  20. Is there a way of testing the gauge ? Paul
  21. My temp gauge is a direct cable to the gauge Paul
  22. Didn’t fancy siphoning the fuel , hoping there are further tests before dropping the fuel Paul
  23. Hi, my fuel gauge is at 75% when full in my Vitesse . Looking to correct this if possible . I have another 2 spare petrol gauges . How can I check if it’s the sender or the guage . The voltage stabiliser is a solid state version . Previously I had issues when the needle slowly dropped to zero and climbed back after 10 mins or so . A bit disconcerting when this happened first time 😱. When it was working it was accurate . Changed to solid state stabiliser and the zeroing stopped but with 25% error Paul
  24. I had an Accuspark one originally but the rivet became loose so tightened the rivet and it’s now the spare ! Paul
