  1. Without this forum I wouldn’t have been able to restore my Vitesse . The info and advice here is invaluable as it’s based on time served hands on experience and you can’t put a price on that . For me the membership fees are worth it just for the forum though understand others might have different views Paul
  2. Ask SpitfireGraveyard on EBay . From memory the last ones he sold went for about £180 . His prices are priced to sell quickly Paul

If you want more security this alarm is great value and works . It’s a vibration alarm with just 2 connections and I think 5 levels of sensitivity . I fitted mine in the drivers bulkhead . https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/165530859542? Great price as well Paul

I use a visual deterrent with a steering lock bar , plus a led flashing away , discrete switch to operate . Paul
  5. For the cost involved I changed the clutch as I didn’t know how long it had been there . At £68 from Canleys it was an easy decision . Replacing worked as the “budgie singing “ has gone . I also removed the fulcrum pin replaced with a washer which changed the angle and compensated for wear. I’m sure Pete Lewis who mentored me on this project will be along to explain Paul
  6. I used the opportunity of changing the clutch and clutch release bearing . Paul
  7. From my limited experience with my overdrive box going back into my Vitesse I had similar difficulties . Firstly I hadn’t raised the gearbox high enough though the PO had the locating studs in place . Using a torch looking in from the engine side that the gearbox was parallel to the engine plate . Hope this helps . I also used stout timber either side of the box to provide leverage to get parallel . Paul
  8. I’ve done the same on my Vitesse though for Mot I remove a blade fuse so only outers come on with Dipped lights Paul
  9. Update Removed the slave cylinder piston using Dot 4 in a Wanner. Thanks for advice Pete 🤗 To stop losing the piston I covered the end with a plastic bag and cable tied it . Checked over the bore and everything is fine and fit for use. I just need to drill the locating holes and ready for fitting . Plan is to move across to Silicone from Dot 4 A NOS Girling Slave for less than £5 Paul
  10. 4 Flap Discs £4.99 Paul also had thin cutting discs, same price for 10 discs
  11. 3 videos explains the workings of the Stromberg Carburettor. Very detailed and well worth a viewing , it’s specific to CDSE . Paul
  12. Thanks Pete . Dot 4 makes more sense than grease . At least I know it’s NOS Paul
  13. Just purchased a NOS Girling Clutch Slave Cylinder from EBay . Purchased for 99p plus postage . I know now why . No drill holes ! . The piston is stuck with red gunge is there a simple way to remove rather than pressurise with a grease gun Paul
  14. suggest a draught seal like this which could well need additional glue whilst I’m a big fan of the Club Shop don’t buy their kit . Apart from costing £30 or so it’s not fit for purpose Paul
  15. Hi the side trim is normally sold in 2 sections and 623141 being the short section after the filler . When I’ve seen the sections come up on EBay they are sold as 2 sections . I’m not at my Vitesse but from memory the short section has tapered ends so difficult to replicate https://rimmerbros.com/Item--i-GRID007887 found a close up of 623141 It’s the one on the right Paul
  16. The only way is to buy both sections second hand with EBay . I bought both sections last month on EBay for £20 deld Paul
  17. Looks good value based on recent prices https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/155449234218?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=wa7Q2zHlRye&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=WOrzrqDcRZu&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=MORE Paul
  18. Or move the spots to below the bumper Paul
  19. Check out Tanya.co.uk as supplier . Good priced and excellent delivery Paul
  20. I’ve bought lots from SpitfireGraveyard and always had value for money Paul
  21. No all attempts failed . Decided to leave . It’s a very light ( cheapo ) washer and hopefully it’s stuck on the oily bellhousing surface somewhere . I will continue to live dangerously 😱 Paul
  22. I have MGF seats and Securon Inertia seat belts and they don’t interfere with the seat movement . I’ll post a pic later Paul
  23. I think I loosened the side rail bolts as well . Not sure if this helped. I also modified this steel rule to “slide” the top mount in Paul
