  1. Ahh, at last something useful has come out of this. I am currently trying to find some aluminium strips that have very sharp points on them. I have put them away somewhere safe, where they couldn't possible cause any harm. 3 hours later, still not found, but I have found a lot of stuff that I didn't realise that I had lost though!
  2. Pete - Thanks for the info and pointers on this. I don't think that a redesign is on the cards for this one. It's taken me long enough to get to this stage so now that I have a better understanding of how it is supposed to be done (ex factory), I will try it that way. Maybe consider the dzus clips at a later date. The idea is very tempting but I will pass for the time being.
  3. Found this one, which is mine to a tee... ..with the three holes at the bottom, three spire clips along the top to screw from the engine bay and holes into spire clips at the bottom of the bulkhead. Looks like this is what it 'should' look like so off we go!! It's I testing but this diagram looks like it has an inspection hole for the gear box oil.
  4. N/M - Like you, not sure as to whether what I took off is what should be there or even in the correct positions Pete - Never used Dzus fasteners. What size would I be looking for. Are you suggesting all the fastening or just the bulkhead ones and if just the bulkhead would that just be the three that appear to come from the engine side or all of them?

    Vitesse price

Also remember that the club valuation guide is for insurance purposes and that prices shown are generally higher than a seller can reasonably expect in most cases.
  6. On checking the car, I find that I have three horizontal spire clips on the body on either side of the gearbox, none between the third clip and the back (approx. 12"). On the vertical on the body, I have two spire clips about 2" up from the bottom on either side, and three holes along the top which have corresponding spire clips in the tunnel cover which looks like self tapers are fed in from the engine bay through the bulkhead. This would appear to agree with one of the parts diagrams and also fit in with the clips and hex head self tappers that I have found after knocking over the box and spreading them all over the garage floor!!. Before I start to mess can anyone confirm that this is correct please.
  7. Roger. Enjoyed your photo 'diaries' as looking forward to your next trip. Stepson agrees with your views on the Spanish etc. A room of it's own....you spoil that car!!!!

    Vitesse price

Welcome to the madhouse Mick. Personally I would negotiate some sort of discount without the respray. Then you can go over the bodywork and deal with any problems that you find, sort them, and then have the paint job done to your satisfaction. As for buying price (price in Euros noted) other Vitesse owners here will hopefully advise. If you have pictures please post them to assist.
  9. Thank you all. So it's back to crawling around in the footwells to measure up for the holes. Don't you just love it! Are the spire clips supposed to be on the bulkhead or the tunnel cover? Parts diagrams show them on the cover and there were two on the bulkhead some on the back of the cover (top left and centre on the photo on page 56). I'm sure there are some on the bulkhead too but will check later.
  10. Fuzz is ssoooo cute. Mini wolf is asleep here after a tiring day looking for keyhole plates!!
  11. Colin - Thanks, I appear to have more holes than clips hence the enquiry. Also, I'm sure that there were key plates on the verticals as well. Looked at the parts lists but some appear to have 3 horizontal holes, others 4. The parts lists say 8 in total but the diagrams show spire clips on the vertical parts of the cover but I appear to have spire clips on the bulkhead. This has not been as straight forward as I was expecting and my reading of the parts lists and diagrams do not help.
  12. The big news for me is that the tunnel cover is nearly finished, yes it's true. Just a few questions before I post the disaster tale. How many key clips are there altogether Do they go up around the bulkhead or only on the horizontal bits. Stupid has repaired bits, covered over the original holes and taken off the spire clips. Add to that...knocked over the box with the bits in so I don't even know if I have found them all. Don't say it, yes I know. This job has gone really well!!!
  13. Thanks, I'm sure that I have an old pair of door cards somewhere (shed, loft) that I could strip for a look see. Thanks for the idea.
  14. Josef - Ok thanks. I am very tentatively (in view of all the other jobs that I'm not getting done) thinking of getting some leather hide off fleabay to fit out my interior. I would love to get it from Owen at Park Lane but cannot justify the cost. Therefore looking at the best adhesives and whether I need to have a sort of foam 'underlay'. Will transfer the thoughts to my restoration thread in due course. Probably more pipe dreams, but if you can't dream....???!
  15. Josef - Looks great. Did you cover the metalwork with any sort of foam or padding before adding the vinyl, and which adhesive did you find to be the best?
  16. Yes, I always carry a couple in the boot. You've gotta know where your towel is!!
  17. Colin - Here are some pictures of my tunnel cover. I was not really going to post photos just yet but if you need help, then.....!!! If you need any specific angles let me know.. You should be able to work out the rough dimensions from the tape in each shot. as you can see, it's far from finished but slowly getting ....somewhere!!

    Core Plug

I had a look too, but ended up in this strange land with snow and some sort of lamp post.
  19. I cheated with mine. The new versions that I bought were rubbish. Some sort of hard composite that wouldn't bend. So on Colin's advice I found the scruffy originals and gave them a rub down with black shoe polish. They came up a treat. I then slit them down the back to fit without having to mess around with the master cylinders, fitted them and put ties wraps around to hold them together. You could super glue them back together but why bother, tie wraps allow easier removal for future inspection.
