  1. Is this a new World record Price for a Vitesse at Auction? Sold for £23,500 plus Premium https://www.historics.co.uk/buying/auctions/2021-04-17/
  2. I Had a quote for my Clutch Master off Dave recently £65 for genuine N.O.S. Girling Probably half the price on Flea-bay for a Chinese one but how long will it last?
  3. Try a guy called Dave Kingerley, link below. https://longbridgemotorspares.co.uk/
  4. Another recommendation for Newtons Carpets, Excellent fit and good Quality too.
  5. To clarify my understanding: I used Koni 80-1717 dampers on the rear of my old Vitesse when using the top extension brackets, my car was still fitted with Rotoflex couplings, some modifications are required though to the Bushes? The Open and closed lengths on the 80-1717 Dampers are different as shown in the photo's by Trigolf above, presumably the new Gaz ones are a similar open/closed lengths to the 80-1717 Koni's (218mm closed & 296mm open). Clive states that the Koni Dampers specified for the standard Swing axle suspension when using the the original top mounts will work with the CV drive shafts with no bottoming out. Regards Gary

    Nice Dolly Sprint

Spotted this on E-Bay, what a lovely car? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Triumph-Dolomite-Sprint-Auto-Excellent-Condition/224393847054?hash=item343eea610e:g:l6gAAOSwaltgVOwT
  7. The above image is pinched from a similar recent post and shows the suspension action using the original Chassis top mounts and also the extension brackets for the lower wishbone suspension. Any mathematicians out there who can work out damper travel between the two?
  8. That's a good question? I know when using the extension brackets the standard rear shocks bottom out, but when mounted on the original chassis top mounts they may well be ok with the Lower wishbone Roto-flex suspension, the extension bracket are used to help the damper clear the Roto-flex couplings but won't be needed with CV joints which is presumably what you are fitting? I suppose it all comes down to the geometry of the suspension with the lower Wishbone Roto-flex type rear suspension, camber is greatly reduced compared with the early Swing axle suspension, but I'm not sure about the amount of Damper travel. The Mk2 GT6 and early Mk3's with Roto-flex suspension had the top damper mounted on the inner wheel arch, as you probably know and the dampers are definitely a different part number and are longer than the earlier GT6 Mk1 and late Mk3 Dampers.

    What's she worth?

Good luck with the sale, I wish I had more Garage space?
  10. See the attached Article from this week's CCW, who else runs LED's for Brake & Indicators, I do?
  11. I wouldn't be so sure? Are you using the chassis mount extension brackets or the original Wheel arch mounted brackets? If you are using the Chassis Extension brackets make sure the open/closed lengths are compatible, I used Koni 80-1717 Dampers designed for a Classic Mini, these have an open length of 296mm and a closed length of 218mm They do need a few Modifications to make them fit though, send me a PM and I can explain if this is the route you want to go down with your GT6? Regards Gary
  12. I Must agree, I fitted Koni's to my last three Classics, two of which where Triumphs Be careful which ones you get for the rear if using the Chassis mounted top extension brackets on the Roto-flex rear suspension? The ones specified may not be the correct Open/Closed lengths.

    What's she worth?

SW Classics was a Restoration company run by Stan Walters in the Devon area, he retired several years ago I believe. They had an excellent reputation and restored some Lovely Vitesse's, including a Laurel Green Mk2 Convertible for Practical Classics Magazine back in the 1990's. I think they also restored a TR6 for the same magazine I've added a couple of links to a Vitesse 6 Saloon (Low Mileage) and a very early Convertible that are currently for sale on E-Bay to my original post. The Saloon looks very straight indeed but needs work, currently the bidding is at around £5.5K

    What's she worth?

That looks great, Olive/Cactus really works😃 Someone also looks to have done a great job of the restoration, was it the Body of the Chassis? If so they've manage to get great Panel fit which is never easy Hard to value these early Vitesse 6 Saloons, but they are quite rare compared with the 2 Litre Models, there are a couple for sale on E-Bay at the moment with one priced at £12K which is optimistic for that particular car in my Opinion. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Triumph-Vitesse-6/324490553860?hash=item4b8d24ea04:g:Xb8AAOSwGXNgLkyS This ones climbing and looks straight with low mileage but needs some re-commissioning work https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TRIUMPH-VITESSE-Mark-I-1964-1600cc-6-cylinder-CLASSIC-CAR/124575171916?hash=item1d0142454c:g:84wAAOSwsAVgKrjB I Would say £8k to £10K for Insurance purposes for yours. Enjoy
  15. I'm a Fairly recent convert to the Sunbeam mark, after 30 years plus of Triumphs! They do seem to rust exceedingly well😬 When I was looking for one 3 or 4 years ago, I got a guided tour of the rot spots by Andy of the Sunbeam Spares Co. He had a late Series 5 Alpine up on the Ramps, it was a one family owned car and they were trying to decide if to have it restored, I had never seen such rot in all my life, the lower parts of the 3 piece sills had long gone, the inner wheel arches and cruciform sections were in a terrible state too, not sure what happened to it but he had estimated £20K plus to put it right bodily and that was without any Mechanical Restoration work? There's a guy local to me called Phil who is restoring a USA Import Tiger, it was left in an Orchard for 20 years apparently, I went to see it before the lockdown and he's really got some work on, he keeps plugging away at it though (2+ years of Plugging away!) PS - Seen your Photo's on the Alpine forum too, keep at it?🤔
  16. These are based near Newark, they are now the owners I believe of the Old TR-Enterprises Garage based in Blidworth. https://www.classicwise.co.uk/ Regards
  17. The Newton Commercial kits for the Vitesse are excellent quality and fit well. These where fitted to my Vitesse in 2005. I also upgraded to modern seats with Headrest and had some replacement MGF covers off them around 2012 to match the Shadow Blue interior of my Vitesse, these too where excellent Quality and fit Like Nigel states, not cheap but quality costs?
  18. Looks very nice, a lot of discussion about this one on the Vitesse International Facebook page. Will it be purchased like so many by a dealer then re-appear again?🤔 Looks to a good standard of restoration, with very good panel fit, I suppose the lack of Salt over there as helped preserved the panels. It will be interesting to see what it sells for, the estimate seems about right. Gary
  19. Aidan I used an assembly Paste called Graphogen when I rebuilt my Vitesse engine, I had it recommended to me? I also used proper Piper Cam Lube on the New Camshaft and followers as recommended by Piper. If fitting a new Cam & Followers make sure you follow the Manufacturers instructions? I also ensured there was plenty of Engine oil around the Piston rings and bores, stagger the rings too before inserting in the Bores. Regards
  20. They look correct but as Clive suggests check the Open & Closed Lengths, the Spax Website doesn't state this. They are cheaper than direct off Spax too, but be aware the price stated is for 1 not a pair. I don't know what the Open & Closed Length should be for the Damper when using the original wheel arch mounted top fixings, it may be stated in a Workshop Manual? PS - That is the same Company (Larkspeed) who I got the Koni rear Dampers from for my Vitesse. Regards

    20 50 or EP90

    Don't you mean a Classic Triumph Dave😆

    Vittesse Film Star?.

A very dark shade, so Royal Blue maybe?
  23. Yes I suppose the best place for it is a Museum? The price is a bit more realistic now though, I'm sure if it was a Sprint it would have been snapped up for sure. Regards Gary
