  2. Standard Triumph had a factory in New Zealand where they made Triumph cars. To get the cars out to the dealers delivery lorries were used. I have this photo from Andrew Newman on facebook which shows Triumph 2000 MkI's being taken off site by H Boyce & Co Ltd truck.   4. Compare classic car parts with new car parts. Often cheaper and you are probably adding value whereas modern car parts tend to be more expensive and the cars go down in value.

I believe Mumfords of Newton Abbot was established following the take over of A C Bulpin & Son Ltd who had been a Standard Triumph garage in 1955. I am not sure of the date of the take over. Do you have any info about Mumfords, Newquay Road, Truro.
  7. Recently picked up these bars of compound. Anybody got details of AAA branded compound. Am told the darker the colour the harder the cut. Before I start doing some tests just thought I would test the wisdom of the cloud.

  11. When I had the bodywork done on my Vitesse in late 1997 there were no repair panels available. I ended up having a whole boot floor transplanted from a dead Herald.

  13. I got some custom leads made up by Mr RetroLeads for my Sprint engined TR7. He will make stuff to order and knows Triumph very well as he a Mr Fitchett.

  15. Triumph used Lucas 2 speed wiper motors. To get the change in speed the switching circuit includes an electrical resistor.   17. Without seeing it I guess you may talking about a core plug. Core plugs are disposable - you have break them to remove them. Posting a photo so we can see what you are talking about would help. Core plug image from Rimmers.

  23. Refurb the original - it will fit under the bonnet and is probably lighter in weight.
  24. Old style underfelt is a menace - it holds water and if dry is very flammable. Modern stuff is more effective and as Colin says can be free..
  25. To measure the capacity of a cylinder with a dome just use a syringe as you would for the head. Run the piston down the bore an exact known distance, then seal up the piston/bore gap with a thin smear of Vaseline. Fit a clear acrylic plastic cover to the bore that has a small drilled hole, and start squirting.... Knowing the volume of the space = height of space x area of space. The volume of the dome is equal to the volume just calculated - the volume squirted in
