  1. Hi David, Thanks for the info. According to my Haynes manual I have a C40-1 fitted which is not on the list. Where is the part number on the RB340? Cheers, George
  2. Hi Guys, I have the above fitted as standard to my '67 Spitfire Mk3. There are plenty available new on Ebay for considerably less than the usual parts suppliers. Most say for Ford though. Will they fit or are they set up differently and need adjusting? Cheers, George
  3. Thanks Guys. I will try the panel wipe first. Cheers, George
  4. Hi Guys, Sprayed my bonnet with rattle cans and thought the paint layer was fairly thick. As it was orange peeled used some compound and wax to remove the peel which it did. On inspection found that the primer was showing in one area. What would be the best stuff to use to remove the compound/wax so I can respray that area? Cheers, George
  5. I visited my sister in south-west France last year and as luck would have it I was on the throne as the area was hit by a 3.2 earthquake. Sounded like an express train going past and the whole house shook. Had visions of my body being recovered with my pants round my ankles and the would-be rescuers killing themselves laughing!
  6. Hi Guys, How do I post and receive private messages? I cannot find them on the site but I know they are done. Cheers, George
  7. Hi Guys, Does the rear bumper attach directly to the wing using the mounting bracket only? I can see that it attaches to the rear valence via a hole in the support angle which bolts to the boot floor and looks quite strong . In comparison bolting directly to the wing itself looks quite weak. Cheers,
  8. Hi Guys, Anybody living within easy reach of Greater Manchester who owns a Mk3 Spitfire? I need to view a couple of body panels to see the profile. Cheers, Brett
  9. Thanks Guys. New somebody would have the answer. Cheers,
  10. Hi Guys, I have been trying to find some pipe clips so I can run the fuel pipes alongside the brake lines along the chassis. David Manners does a 3/16 - 5/16" set but I need 3/16-1/4" . Anybody know where I can get some? Cheers, Brett
  11. Hi, I assume they bolt on underneath the side mounted ones? Cheers, George
  12. Hi Guys, Those photos are great, thanks for putting them up. Looks like the two bolts are slightly offset to the off-side. I have the old valance so I can measure from that. Thanks for the info on the irons. I will need to give mine a bit more bend as they do nor meet up correctly when bolted to the boot floor. Cheers, George
  13. Hi Guys, Can anybody send me a photo of the boot lock catch plate set-up on the boot rear valence as I need to fit one and I do not have any holes to attach it. In fact I do not have a catch plate either! Looking at the old rear valence which the welder returned It has a reinforcing plate which my new valence does not. Also I have two thick pieces of bent steel about a foot long, quarter of an inch thick and about one and a half inches wide. which obviously bolt through two holes in the boot floor near the rear lights. Where does the other end go? Again a photo would be appreciated. Wish I had photographed the boot prior to the work being done. Thanks guys hope you can help. Cheers, George
  14. Hi Robert, Where did you get your Sheffield made spring from? Cheers.
  15. Hi Guys, Anybody tried Eastwood Contour body filler? Advertised properties seem quite good. Cheers.
  16. Thanks guys, got me spoilt for choice now, didn't realise there were so many options. Cheers.
  17. Hi, Is the P40 called Isopon supplied by Halfords amongst others and where can I buy Bodysoft? Cheers.
  18. Hi Guys, Getting my Spitfire Mk3 back from the body shop next weekend after extensive welding. The new panels are fine but some places where metal sheet has been welded in, such as front scuttle and bonnet wheel arches, are in need of some filler to blend them. What filler do you recommend? I have some cellulose putty for those areas requiring very little but other areas need something more substantial. Thanks in anticipation. Cheers.

    Gauges.

Hi Tom, When I did this on my Mk3 Spitfire I just connected the temp gauge to the existing sender in the thermostat housing and it worked perfectly. Cheers.
  20. Hi Guys, The UK emits 371 million tonnes of CO2 per year in 2019, about 1% of the total, putting us in 16th place in the pollution league. China emits 9000 million tonnes and the US almost 5000 million tonnes. If we were to stop all emissions today without the rest of the world making massive improvements the world will still die on the same day. Most of the improvements that we do are irrelevant to the overall picture and only add significant costs to our daily lives. Only when the major polluters come down to our level of emissions does it make sense to introduce further improvements. Restricting cars in city centres to improve the local air quality is a different story. Other than that I am a firm believer in re-cycling and reduction/reuse of waste. Cheers, SpitfireGeorge
  21. Hi Guys, Is there any difference between the front valence on a Mk 3 Spitfire to that on a Mk1 or2? My car is in the body shop and they think it is the wrong one as it does not fit even though it has the correct Rimmer's part number. To me it looks like the glassfibre one I took off. Cheers, Brett
