yes bit annoying that but I suppose all electronic chargers are the same - dont go back to charging if the power supply is lost, even momentarily, so you think your battery will be ready in the morning but Murphy's law says it might not be....
Yes good but be aware if the battery charge is below 7.5v the unit will not work as it doesnt recognise its connected (however you might be able to trick it into starting by setting it to the 6v motorcycle setting and then changing back to 12v when the battery voltage has recovered sufficiently)...
Heres a photo from a previous thread which appears to show no contact of the idler gear but if your gearbox came with the measurements you have recorded then it will have to spin with 1st gear. This maybe some thing Triumph accepted with later gearboxes because I believe there were problems with idler gear teeth failures...
I dont think so and this is a subject that has been discussed in detail previously - have you changed any of the reverse idler gear components including its operating arm?
I think that must be a generic warning and the spec says suitable for all types of vehicles but yes says use in systems that specify DOT 5 and not those that require DOT 3, 4, 5.1 fluids...
For 3+ pounds perhaps its time for an upgrade Graham? I can confirm that the unit holds the set temperatures when powered down which, although the power draw is minimal, I recommend because if faulty it could run the fan while Im away from the car🤪
If anyone is of a mind to fit an electric cooling fan I can recommend this temperature controller off eBay at 6 pounds delivered (be sure to get the 12v version). No need to spend loads on a dedicated unit as this is has an internal relay good for up to 10A and is pretty well sealed although some silicone around the wires exits would be sensible in applications where exposed to the elements. It comes with a probe that you fit in the radiator fins but I think you could change it for a suitable NTC screw in sensor and is easy to set up with the actual and set point temperatures shown on the display. You can separately set the fan start and stop temperatures to give a suitable dead band and after a bit of experimenting I found 92º - 87º to be good for my Vitesse.
Just to finish this off, Ive seen from Rimmers site that the WM was the later design of the single rail gearbox as used in the last Dolomite 1850 with changes to 1st, 2nd and reverse gears from the previous single rail which was presumibly WH...
If its the same as mine the shape is great but the chrome is done straight onto the steel and hasnt lasted anything like my front original overriders which presumibly are copper, nickel then chrome onto the steel🙁
I think youve got to virtually keep wiping them over with WD40 or similar to stop them deteriorating...
Yes the main bearings (or any ball race bearing) should really be moved only using force on the appropriate race and thats how the correct Triumph tools do it....
Yes its probably more practical but, although Im no fan of show queens, I think if your going to have a sunroof in one of our cars, its got to be a material type. Anything else just doesnt look right....
What about a real Webasto? Look a lot better while giving the full sunroof experience. They do come up second hand but are expensive mainly because new theyre mega expensive☹️
Ant on Wheeler Dealers replaced one with metal on a Datsun Celica and it needed skilled work with an English wheel to look correct....
