  1. The manual says 5/16 UNF x 1" set screws so has someone put in something longer!
  2. Right can see it now looking at the sectional drawing in the manual. And yes front to rear casings bolts do appear tight on length and possibly could reach the bearing without their spring washer....
  3. But whats that hole in the casing. Is that what you did to get the bearing out? Surprised if just missing a spring washer on a standard bolt would cause problems....
  4. Great, yes and of course good to know exactly where empty is👍
  5. I know the EBC Green pads are poor but think the yellow are supposed to be much better so worth sticking with for a while yet....
  6. Dont think the wires on the meter matter as inside is just a heater element and the heat it produces to bend the needle's bimetallic strip is the same which ever direction the current flows...
  7. Superglue is your friend Dave! In a pinch any split in a diaphragm can be glued - of course a replacement diaphragm is even better but dont forget got to leave room for some luggage on those touring hols😂
  8. Yes found the dimensions of the two diaphragms on a NZ site and for CD175 10mm bigger in OD and 6mm on ID. Even there though the price difference is massive with the bigger being $9.52 for a pair as opposed to $47.52 for two of the smaller size. WHY?
  9. Its strange because theres this NOS for sale on ebay which just says Stromberg CD carbs without specifying size.... Vintage Mafco Diaphragms for Stromberg CD Carburettors Shop display JOB LOT | eBay
  10. Trouble is you need to test empty with the sender connected because its resistance might not be high enough to give you zero like open circuit does....
  11. Unfortunately I think you'll have to do two forms of adjustment Wimpus as the needle needs to go further in both directions! Does it go to full with the sender wire to earth and empty when open circuit?
  12. Be interesting if they are as generally theres a big price difference between JPs listing of 521153 (Vitesse) and JS499 (Stag) - 9.25 compared with 2.95 respectively!
  13. I would add engine temperature to the list as mine can run on if it gets too hot (for example through cooling fan failure)...
  14. Brilliant. Think the hole is the vent from the float chamber (early versions just vented into air filter) so I wouldnt expect you to be able to blow through it...
  15. In the first pic the inner gasket is wrong and it looks like the spacer needs rotating by 180º while in the second its installed correctly just both the gaskets are wrong. However in neither can you see what the second carb has....
  16. Just a water based detergent isnt it these days☹️
  17. Yes I can see in the photo the gaskets dont match the spacer but with a bit of luck theyre just installed upside down🤞
  18. Dont know as it shows as being the correct insulator for all mk3 GT6 but I think has been used without the correct gaskets either side of it so will of course leak badly...
  19. There must be a reason for that cutout in the insulator piece and it looks like it should be matched by gaskets that have the same shape - part number 147659. If you suspect an airleak you could try spraying the joints with Easystart or something similar while the engines running to see if theres any change in revs...
  20. Interesting, the original stud holes go right through to the interior but I suppose theres no real disadvantage if they dont....
  21. always thought the diff casing takes quite a bashing from the suspension loads both one sided and all together😮 Makes me a bit nervous about using a swing spring diff (4 hole) with a fixed spring in my Vitesse....
  22. Have you seen whats left of the bearing Pete?😄
  23. So really you can never see an improvement in power at partial revs because you could just open the throttle a bit more on the standard engine to equal the output from the tuned one! The curves should be identical until the throttle is full open on the standard engine at which point the tuned one will hopefully still have some power left to give...
  24. Yes ok I get it as the airflow restriction at partial opening is the carb butterfly not the filter but when fully open its down to filter/porting/valves👍Those power curves are a bit confusing then as dont they show an increase at all revs?
