  1. Doug, You were 4 stone lighter because you sweated a gallon a day in a GT6🥵 I meant to find you at Duxford and put another face to the name.....but forgot. Iain
  2. Found a pair of CD/CDS insulators from Mick Dolphin. What a very helpful chap! Iain
  3. Why make it simple when you can annoy the voters! In short TFL is bankrupt and they need the revenue so why not stop the free over 60s card and reduce some of the other dozens of subsidised cards? Oh no that wouldn't be popular with the mayor's voters, so TFL reduces revenue and spends more! Madness.
  4. A nurse checked my HR when I was dozing waiting to be taken down for an op and it was 40bpm. She was alarmed but my normal rate is 60 so low anyway. We have a gym in our complex so residents only, we've had one death and one heart attack. I don't go near the place its too dangerous! The new ULEZ zone is unfair I would have gone for banning all private cars from the very centre of London.
  5. Never done a video Team meeting, took me 5 minutes to fathom out that the 'Join' tab meant join the meeting. I thought I was signing up for some useless add rubbish.
  6. No I don't want agro my cardiac surgeon told me at a Team meeting today I have to keep my heart rate below 120bpm!
  7. Guy in our estate has a 20 year old Boxster, does 1000 miles a year. He likes to take it out Sundays etc but now won't use it. To sell it and buy a new ULEZ compliant car seems crazy so it's restricted his pleasure.
  8. Matthew, sorry if you got the wrong end of the stick it didn't worry me. Iain
  9. Like the drift but beware the Woke Warriors!
  10. He is, let me list all the good things he's done for London :- . . . .
  11. Perhaps if its argued classic cars are good for your mental health (the new buzz words) it may convince him!
  12. I had two new alternators fail so I splashed out and bought a Brise. Iain
  13. At the moment Khan has spared all Historic cars and we are exempt. I suspect the exemption won't last long......
  14. Was the engine hot? What did the temp gauge say? It is odd it struggled to crank.
  15. Thanks, I'm pleased with them. They worked well today blasting up the M11 to Duxford. I'll take a look at the plugs tomorrow but I think I'm near finished playing with needles and springs. The AFR meter showed it slightly rich so I've leaned them off a quarter turn. The heat shields came with the car. However I do want a pair of the thick heat insulators for a CD/CDS. My insulators have the notch in the centre which I believe is for the later carbs. The carb and inlet manifold barely cover the notch, in fact I had to turn them around as there was air hissing in when I fitted them earlier this week. Anyone know where I can buy them?
  16. Just had my carbs refurbed at Carburetor Exchange, they look good and everything works. Spindles are bushed/sealed. I'll upload some pics when my phone let's me😡
  17. I assume the air piston falls with a clunck on the bridge? I had one new diaphragm that actually stopped the piston from dropping to the bottom. The jet was centred but it still held the piston off 1-2mm off the bridge. Couldn't get the engine to tick over properly so I replaced the diaphragm and cured the problem. Iain
  18. I found posting very hit and miss, a real pain as I never knew if the rubbish I was writing was going to get past the 'saving' message and onto the Forum. Kevin suggested clearing out my cache. Its much better now or it could be just a coincidence! I just poke the screen I don't want to know how it works. Iain
  19. A good point, dunno. All modern hoses are high pressure as well as presumably E10 friendly. I would have thought just buy from a reputable source. The hoses that arrived a couple of weeks ago from the club don't have Gates Barricade on them but do state 30R14. Iain Just had a Google and R14 is the ethanol/methanol rated low pressure (50psi) hose.
  20. I've tried polish (yes it works fine on chromed metal) but it doesn't work on chromed plastic so I used a small amount of Bar Keepers cream on the front wing 'tick' and it came up a treat😁. However the hockey stick shaped chrome around the rear window didn't clean up as well and is still bloomed. Crappy BMW quality, never buying another. Wife's convinced I've done my best so I'm happy especially as we are going out for a meal tonight (hangover tomorrow). However if anyone has any other solutions keep 'em coming please. Iain PS, no I don't need to change the wife....done that and this one's fine!
  21. Not on my Vitesse but on the modern. The exterior chrome plated plastic is tarnished and grimy, I've tried white vinegar and the stuff in the BMW bag of goodies. Both no good. How about Bar Keepers Friend? Any suggestions please as I'm getting it in the ear from the wife! Iain
  22. The PO of my Vitesse fitted AVO's and were knackered after 6-7 years and about 5k miles. I fitted GAZ adjustable all round with ride height on the fronts. I like the ability to adjust which I especially felt on the rears. I like it stiff up front and a soggy bottom! Been on 3 years but only 3k miles. Iain PS Gazzards (GAZ, by coincidence my old factory was on the same estate) will sell direct. Unfortunately they didn't have any in stock and no idea when the next batch were scheduled so I bought from Rimmer when on offer.
  23. I use Redline Shockproof 75W140, it was recommended on this Forum. Iain
  24. Pete, that's where my dangerous UJ came from! Just sayin', hopefully your one is OK. Iain
  25. The diaphragm may be located correctly but are the holes in the bottom of the air piston pointing towards the engine? It looks as though they are just check. Iain
