  1. Hello All i don't arf like the look of these!!!!! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/131905568864?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT But is that OTT? But then I would have to build en engine worthy of them? So were is my problem? This wine stuff is a B*****r log off you daft S*d brain says (but what does that know/) Roger
  2. Hello Clive I must say I like the idea of the pump and swirl pot in the tank like modern cars and the pumps are cheaper(just need a spare tank or find some one to steam clean mine) the welding and or brazing would not be a problem. Plus they are quieter and keep cooler. Just priced a new one from eurocarparts with the 30% discount £60 so not expensive? Plus my mates son is into VW,s big time so could find me one and fittings Thank's for the advice Roger
  3. Have a look at this http://www.microsquirt.info/dcoil.htm
  4. Hello Darren I have not thought about that much yet. What would be nice is to have a flange fitted to suit a modern submersible pump with the return built in(but who is going to weld a petrol tank?) Roger
  5. Hello darren PM,d Roger ps But we must keep telling every one else what we are doing and or our mistakes?
  6. Hello Darren Is this the throttle body you are going to use? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/262479671525?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT I have looked at used ones but I thought for £65 a new one with TPS seemed good value? were as used off ebay is an unknown condition especially the TPS. I have been reading the Microsquirt instructions etc and It looks as thou we can run the Ford type coil pack direct and do not need amplifier in between? The only though I had was the Edis has a limp mode if Megajolt fails! but it does not matter on Microsquirt because if it fails having sparks are not going to help so it may as well go? and can be sold with the Megajolt(I have 3 Edis 4,s now with plugs!) What fuel pump and regulator are you going to use? Is the plenum chamber the right place for the Air temperature sensor? What about a regulator like this? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Universal-140-PSI-Blue-Adjustable-Fuel-Oil-Pressure-Regulator-w-Aluminum-Gauge-/301833186766?hash=item4646a8edce:g:LBUAAOSwJcZWe6t- Roger
  7. Hello All More thoughts to be shot down but may as well ask! What if I modified a standard twin carb manifold and machined and have welded on 4 injector bosses and then fit a pair of either of these? http://www.jenvey.co.uk/products2/individual-throttle-bodies/sfs-short-30mm-individual-body/sfs-40-50mm-body-0-inj-sfsxx-0-0 http://www.jenvey.co.uk/products2/individual-throttle-bodies/st-small-2-bolt-individual-body/st-35-45mm-body-0-inj-stxx-0-0 Now I know I am thick but can someone explain how the injection works on the Microsquirt when there is only 2 injector feeds and 4 injectors?(this is a steep learning curve!) still better than doing them numbers game things? Roger
  8. Hello Darren The dreaded Ebay is were I found the kit it had been ordered by a chap to do a Ford Zetec I think but he acquired the Ford wiring etc. So I was just in the right place at the right time and saved £100+ There certainly a lot to think about. Why cant I just get a set of motorcycle injector bodies and fabricate a manifold?(I know it cant be that easy?) Roger
  9. Hello All My Microsquirt kit arrived today and I am pleased with what is in it. Microsquirt and plug/lead Map sensor and plug 7 sensor plugs Edis4 and plug(not needed) Programming lead and USB adaptor Large wiring pack All for £250? Looking at the specs it can do everything except make the tea?(probably possible to use a spare connection for that?) So now the head scratching starts I have been looking at this site http://www.classicfuelinjection.co.uk/ Their complete kit sounds a reasonable price £1368 inc vat I am not keen on the SU spacer adaptors but it got me thinking I could machine the inlet manifold and make injector pockets to be welded in at an angle? What do we think? They list Bosch injectors with a flow rate of 315cc/min how critical is this? they say each is capable of 60 BHP so 2 should be plenty? How critical is the ATS sensor position? I think this is going to keep me quite for months? Will the Microsquirt learn the same if I fit a lambda sensor (pocket already on exhaust pipe)not read all specs yet? i think I will remove the Ford Edis unit and drive the coil with an ignition amplifier.(just more complication and can sell it with the Megajolt unit((I have 3 now?)) Do we use air idle valves? I found this site for injector spec http://www.bulletperformanceracing.com.au/Bosch%20Fuel%20Injectors%20Table%20155.html Roger (with hurting brain)
  10. Hello Clive I am going to try and fit EFI to my Spitfire, I have picked up a Microsquirt unit and some other bits for £250(unused) I have been running Megajolt for about 5 years now so I thought in for a penny etc. How did you design your system and what parts did you use? Thank's Roger ps It was not me you gave water to at Classic Le Mans
  11. Hello All A small update my Speedo cable was not broken some numpty had not clipped in on to the Speedo head properly(ME) still it was fun(not) removing half of the dash and angle drive for nothing. I have fitted a new Clutch master cylinder but I used the TRW seals as they looked better than the county ones and the new spring was a lot weaker causing piston to stick(1.5 kg half compressed compared to 2.5 kg?) A couple more photo from Pegasus bridge, it must be nice to make them open it for you and stop the traffic? We have nearly planned our trip to Ireland now (well only about 7 nights to book?) but the ferries are booked so what can go wrong?
  12. Hello All Just looking at some photos of our little trip and just worked out we were 6833 feet up at this point(Glad I don't have Lucas PI!) All seems like a distant memory now(Still must get on and plan? the trip to Ireland) Ferries and first 2 nights and last night booked only 9 to book!(plenty of time yet?) Roger ps now back to making the stiil for when I have recipe for pochine !!
  13. Hello John I retired Friday the thirteenth! 2006 (and miss it every day NOT) I have booked us on Siena line Hollyhead to Dublin and 2 nights in a poshish hotel and back from Rosslare to Fishguard 12 days later all for £378!(one of their deals) I have booked what looks like a nice B&B with sea views at Rosslare as ferry is 9am sailing. We just have to decide we're else we want to go (any suggestions?) Roger
  14. Hello Anybody still there A thought about the trip did we think it is right for a circus to display animals next to the road?(sure it would not happen in UK?) Now to realy wind you up! we were booked on a train holiday in september(but cancelled!!!!!!!!!!) SO we have decided to take SPITTY to Ireland!!!!(they joy of being retired! sorry to you workers! so called! been there done it! it was rubbish(I was going to say C*****P but thats rude?)) So if you are still awake I will do a blog! of the Ireland trip? If you have the stamina?do before you get to old and worried about what can go wrong(you are not climbing mountains just driving lovely old cars for FUN!) Roger slightly drunk!
  15. Hello Gully A WEEK or so? they will not want to give the child back or sold him or her to the slave trade! That,s one of the FEW advatages of being old and retired! I am thinking Santander and portugal next year(or for the winter? not told the wife yet!) Roger
  16. Hello Gully Just think of a place you want to visit in your TRIUMPH and how you want to get there(not to many motorways and plenty of by roads and even mountain passes!) Book a ferry so you can not change your mind! We use Booking dot com for all our accommodation and if you put in all the filters you can find digs with car parks(important to classic car owners) B&B or half board, non smoking etc plus we always put the filter in that says you cancel up to 24 hours in advance so IF you have to change your itinerary(which we did) it is at no cost to you. Fully service your car and carry a few spares(plugs ,points, fan belt, rotor arm etc) Me I carry a head gasket and 2 valves and springs, the above only Megajolt version, water pump, bulbs, nuts and bolts and Gaffer tape! It does not matter if you can or can not fit them yourself the breakdown man will(but he/she needs the parts!) The only limit is your Imagination? So just do it(perhaps not as long trip as we did?) perhaps ferry to Le Havre and do the Normandy/Brittany area? Or better still in my opinion ferry to Santander an the Picos area of northern Spain(no more driving as the boat takes the strain?) Just be a little bit brave and go for it! the worst that can happen is the car breaks down beyond repair and comes home on a truck but you are not going to die! But if it goes well you can wind(encourage) every body up like I do? Roger
  17. Hello to those with staying power Well we are back home after our trip. 3645 miles on the sat nav (speedo cable broke at 2158) we used about 1lt of oil and the clutch held out (has used a bit more fluid) When we got to Classic Le Mans I was buying some drinks tokens from our Angie when I heard someone say that needed a starter solenoid (guess who had one in the boot? its a long story!) so he was one very happy bunny when I said I had one he could have it. As I said before the TSSC organisation was excellent again! Thank,s to all the team who make it so enjoyable for the rest of us. we made our way to the Normandy landing area to visit a few sites(we did not get to see that bit of old cloth as I was not up to speed on the Wednesday morning I think it may have been the whelks or cockles or the small? amount of wine I drunk the night before(the road to hell is paved with good intentions?) We booked a cabin last minute as its a longish drive at night to home and just as well as they had closed the A34 half way up so had to do a diversion and added about 1 hour on journey. Roger ps a few more photos sorry if some are repeats I forgot to say we got lost getting out of Le Havre but finished crossing on the ferry so a bonus and second photo I said to the better half can you feel the rain?
  18. Hello Hangers on On ferry now! 3380miles covered to dock!!!!!!(on Gladly,s the satnav) Another nice SUNNY day (We are going to miss the sun) Will try to add a couple of photos but wiffy is rubbish on ferry, will do a bit of a round up when home Roger
  19. Hello my many friends I forgot to say yesterday much to my shame how good the Team from our TSSC club were at Le Mans keeping everybody informed and watered(?) And as for Angie what can I say? She is a star☺ Thanks We have been to the museum at Utah beach today and the American cemetery and a quick photo shoot at Omaha beach museum 3385 miles now! Off to Le Havre tomorrow for ferry via Bayeux bit of cloth and Pegasus bridge the onto the cattle boat so no good wiffy I am going to drag the SUN behind Spitty back to blighty so get the factor 50 ready! Roger Ps the funny ones? Are from Saturday night when we all dressed for the beach (it was a long walk to the sea but suppose the tide was out!) What do we think the aircraft was? I was to far away to get a better photo, but a Spitfire gave a display on Saturday evening with smoke off the wing tips!
  20. Hello All That are still there We are now in Port en Bessin. We got to Classic Le Mans and had a fantastic time, we were looked after by the excellent team of Vicky,Jane and Andy BBQ king bar non (Worcester & Gloucester groups) Spittys clutch is still working ok and no fluid loss 3290 miles cover so far! 21. Hello Minions I feel like the New Messiah or the Pied piper Long drive to day, feel violated by the paege system (€44+ to go through a 8 mile tunnel! Bl*****y Frogs)plus all the other charges on route!!!!!!!! Only 200 miles from Classic Le Mans and the fun starts when we meet the rest of the gang and the serious eating and drinking starts plus fantastic racing cars to watch! A few photos from journey of to day. 2900ish miles up to now clutch fluid not moved and only 1/2 lt oil used So they can do it! Roger Ps that's it until we get to Normandy as don't expect WiFi at Classic Le Mans
  22. Is it catching?Yes got some euros at better price but to be honest passed caring as there are no pockets in shrouds as my old mother used to say and lost to many friends lately of the same age! I have been thinking? as to why Spitty is running hotter this year and remembered when in Spain I put the good stuff in the tank and there is only one grade of stuff here and does not say how much E is in it so one assumes it is knats p****s how do they get fart rarys running one it?
  23. Hello John Checked Spittys clutch fluid and non used today so fingers crossed and yes over the winter I may fit a remote bleed nipple (can not stop messing! ) I hate to say this but another rubbish meal tonight smoked salmon and pear on toast with bits ,pasta with tomatoes not mush,Huge prawns and Marscopone, pear and chocolate to finish plus a bottle of fizz Long slog tomorrow 300ish! 24. Hello Gang No much to report today! Made our way up to the autostrada by Modena (No time to see those shinny Italian things in a MUSEUM! Then did about 230miles to Rubiana and only one pilot error we must be getting better? (difficult to get worse?) Clutch still working not looked at fluid level yet (to HOT and vino calling!) Breakfast was the usual rubbish with a view of the gas works! We saw a few high speed trains as autostrada is parallel and a station for Parma we think (which looked good Off back into Frog tomorrow via the Tunnel du Frejus about 12.8 kilometres! (about 8miles I think) Roger and Her Ps the better other half is complaing there is only a duvet and no top sheet or air con I don't know what she will say when we get to Le Mans and in a tent on a lilo with ex army light weight sleeping bags! pops who spotted the mistake?
