My report back. Cable ties no good as they foul the brake calliper on the front wheels. So bent the trims forward so the hub cap pressed against it Simple why did I not think of that. No smart answers please Regards Andrew

Hello all I have a Herald 13/60 with steel wheels, hub caps and trims. The wheel trims are rattling all the time and or course when you go over a bump it is worse. It is deffenetly the trims that are at fault as I have removed all four and taken the car for a spin and no rattling. How can I stop the trims rattling any ingenious solutions Regards Andrew

Why not buy the Alloy rocker cover from the shop as well Andrew

Can I ask a silly question why not just buy by a new master and or a slave cylinder from one of the reputable spares places such as TD Fitchets or Canley or David manners. After all if we don't use these places they will go the way of the high street banks then what will we do. Just a thought Andrew

Hello all I thought I would give you an update of my issue of tight spots on my steering. I have recently fitted a larger steering wheel and I noticed that my steering was very heavy in places not sure why surely a larger steering wheel would not have this effect but it did make it more noticeable I think I just got used to the small wheel and thought the steering was heavy. Anyway I replaced my year old leaking trunnions today with proper stanpart ones, put it all back together filled with EP 90 oil and what do you know I have now got a smooth steering action. Just thought I would update you in case there are similar issues outthere with any one Regards Andrew

Answer to Pete i will do approx 2000 miles per year. The reason i ask is i bought my Herald about two years ago and the first thing i did was put new trunnions on the car.. Now i have been very happy with them and have pumped E.P. 90 oil in on a regular basis. But here is a stupid statement and according to the laws of engineering is is not possible. When i purchased the car it had a after market Moto Lite style steering wheel on. I have sourced a original steering wheel which i fitted at the weekend and ever since the steering seems not to want to self center, or is it my imagination. Do these little cars with trunnions self center, the problem is you get spoilt with your modern car with P.A.S. Help am i going mad. Andrew

I do not doubt the quality of these units from Canley's but my questions are 1) are they a worth wile investment 2) Are they easy to fit 3) has anyone got any feed back on ones they have fitted. 4) any do's and don'ts Regards Andrew

Hello this topic reminded me of my same issue last year. I bought my Herald a couple of years ago and the first job I did was to change the trunnions as I was not happy with the way the previous owner had them serviced, he even took it to a garage as he was not a spanner man. I purchased new trunnions from a well know supplier after fitment and filling up with oil I noticed a drip from the bottom where the blanking plate is inserted. The remedy was to give them a good clean with a good quality engine cleaner (I got away with out taking the trunnions of again and to use a product called JB weld available from good motorist shops. The compound comes in two tubes which you mix in equal proportions. So far so good no more leaks. regards Andrew

Hello The more I think about this the more mileage (Forgive the pun) I think there is in it. How about a get together at the HQ with a Power Point or slide show, just like an informal lecture. The format could be a presentation/lecture follow by a questions and answer session, so we can all ask those stupid questions we have all wanted to ask but afraid of looking stupid. We could all learn from each other. Just a thought Andrew

Let me add to this discussion i also had a bad experience with cheap electronic ignition so went back to points temporarily. Last year I bought from the club shop luminition magnatronic and my car runs better there seems to be more power and it has never missed a beat they have now been on almost twelve months so yes buy a decent make and support the club shop. If I cannot borrow a compressor I would only buy from the club shop. I need to go anyway to buy the parts for the suspension overhaul. While I am on the subject I will buy two new springs from the shop will my car ride higher as I presume the old springs have been compressed over the years. Andrew

Hello all I am refurbishing my front suspension on my Herald 13/60 and of course I need to remove the front shocks and springs. Is there anyone who would be good enough to lend/rent me a spring compressor save me buying one it is one of those thing you need once and my never use it again. Guys Can I just add a comment. I have a 13/60 and had exactly the same issue with my MC leaking. I don't want to Appear clever do what I did buy a replacement MC complete as then you know the bores and the seals are new. The new one is a plastic reservoir but that is the point you can see the fluid level. From memory the new MC was approx £40 from Regards Andrew

Hello Burdfunker Can I add a comment here on this issue. I bought a hi torgue starter motor for my Herald about a year ago and I must say it is well worth the money. As Pete says it turns my engine over faster and you can tell the effort required from the starter motor if negligible the car just bursts into life instantly. Just buy one from the club shop as I did you will not be disappointed Regards Andrew
