  1. Hi Pete Bought a rear brake refurbishment kit from Paddocks. I.E. Shoes, drums, wheel cylinders, adjusters, springs. Bought two kits so i can do both sides. When I have complete the job I will report back what I have found to be the problem why the wheel cylinder seized in the expanded position.
  2. It is a mystery to me as well. But looking on the positive side, the brakes at least seized up on my drive not when I left it to go for a walk in a nearby national trust property

  5. Just an update guys took of the ROS drum after backing off the adjuster quite a few turns asked my wife to push the brake pedal and guess what no movement of the wheel cylinder. Look like it has seized up in the out position as the brake shoes needed to be backed off quite a way. I thought wheel cylinders seize up when returned to the rest position has any one come across this before. Regards Andrew
  6. Guys Herald 13/60 Been out today for a about a 50 mile run and the car ran beautifully. Left the car on the drive and as the night is so good thought I would take her out for one last run today. Got in the car and she would not move it appears that one or both of the rear brakes are locked on. Any bright suggestions what it could be and where to start to rectify this. Brake lining good adjustment as per the manual locked up wheels and back one notch regards Andrew

  9. Hi all Herald 13/60 Can I just comment on the route of my petrol pipe. Mine is metal pipe from pump to carb routed by the dynamo, behind fan but in front of cylinder head. entering the carb from the front. If you are looking at the carb from the off side of the engine the pipe goes in on the right side. I am told this is the correct and original route. Your thoughts welcome

  13. Hello to all Can you tell me if the front seats on a Herald 13/60 are handed. The reason I ask because the drivers seat is a bit saggy and fouls the door. So I had a bright idea of swooping the two front seats over, low and behold the passenger seat fouls the drivers door worse then before. Is there any adjustment on the seats if not how can I stop the seat fowling the door. Or is a it a case of getting the seat rebuild to stop the sagging. Regards Andrew

  21. Sod's law. bought a new master cylinder, new length of brake copper brake pipe and all the required fittings. Just before I started I thought I would just give the leaking union another go as I do not want to disturb the brake hydraulic system. So loosened of the union gave the pipe a wriggle so it entered the Master cylinder a bit of a different angle, tightened the union quite tight and would you believe it seems to have cured the leak. Any thoughts out there regards Andrew
  22. Hi guys thanks for the suggestions. I will action this and report back the best way to cure this problem.
  23. Suggestions and advice please. Two years ago I replaced my brake master cylinder on my 13/60 Herald . This unit was a new unit supplied from a reputable parts supplier. All went well when all connected and all air bled from the system and no leaks. Now after two years the union at the MS connection had stared to leak. I have tried to nip up the mail connecter which cured the leak for about a week, now it is leaking again. Any wise words of wisdom please to cure this issue.
  24. What a thoroughly enjoyable day. Let's do another one soon regards Andrew
