Obviously they have cut a new one to a pattern and comparing to my original shows how much that one has worn. So if I had found someone that could have copied that it might not have worked well anyway.

No good for you in the sticks but where i work in Soho there is what i would call an old school locksmiths, with a whole wall of blank keys,i got ignition, door and petrol cap spares for my Herald and Vitesse on the spot, and not from a cutting machine that copied them, just a code they put in a machine. God I`m old.

I can thoroughly recommend

I have one of the last 1500 Spitfires built, both doors, boot and ignition are all different keys. I got 2 sets cut and all are perfect, in fact the ignition switch itself works better than it ever did. You do need the key numbers. Hope this helps,

Derek.

The new one I had cut to code for my Mk3 Spit didn’t work at all. On removing the lock barrel it was easy to tell why cause that was marked with a completely different code! So the key, outer and inner barrel just happened to be worn enough that the same key worked in the ignition as the doors. Fixed it by re-keying the ignition barrel to match the keys I had, but it goes to show what time does to them!

I had no spares so went to my local security specialists who cut me sets for both my Mk3 GT6 and my Sixfire 1500. They are very competent:

Thanks. I've got my key now but if I need anything else I go back to Swindon occasionally so could pay them a visit 👍

You do need the key numbers.

This is where keytraders score.  Cliff had no code for either blank or key.  Cock-ups happen but keytraders came up with the right result in the end and cliff now knows his code.
