New ignition key

Trying to get a spare copied for my 78 Spit but can't find anywhere that has suitable blanks.

Has anyone got any ideas where to try?

Should be a number on the key . Go to EBay and search . Worked for me

Looking at the website, the only number on the key UNI19 appears to be identifying the blank. I can't see anything else on it.

To the best of my knowledge, mkiv and 1500 spitfire ignition keys do not have a key code number on them.  The code was supplied to the original owner on a dog tag with the keys, so good luck finding it now.

If your current key has the actual key number not just the blank reference then they will be able to produce a key. UNI19 would be the type of key blank as you say.

I had mine cut at Timsons Tesco. They had loads of Rover blanks.

The  UNI19 key blank is for the later 1500 Spitfire Ignition AND doors (earlier MKIV and 1500 Spitfires had different ignition and door keys)

I have NEVER seen an original Spitfire MKIV ignition / door key with the number actually stamped on it - and I have a NOS set of door locks and matching ignition lock from a late 1500 Spit and even that set does NOT have the key number stamped on it, its on a DOG TAG.

Believe us, Keytrader are good.  They can normally identify key code from a p hoto.  Speak to them.

Sent Keytrader a picture of the key which they have identified, so ordered one and hopefully it will be ok 🤞

Hmm, new key arrived today and didn't work. When I compared to original it is completely different.

 

I have advised Keytrader and awaiting a response.

Right key, wrong car 😁. Clearly a mix up, probably someone else cursing them for the same reason . . .

Moss sell blanks with Leyland logo.

Bought some years ago for my Spitfire (also 1978).

But dont know what type, need to look.
