Taking my Nephews bride and father in law to their wedding in Windsor Great Park Royal Chapel tomorrow, then on to the Long Walk for photo`s with the B + G.

Thought I should make an effort as I`m not really a polisher. Really pleased how the old girl looks considering it was painted in 2009.

his is my Avatar. No.1 girl getting married. She has 4 kids now.

Advice: Try the bride and dress in the car beforehand. They wouldn't let me see the test, mustn't see the dress! On the day it had hoops, she couldn't see over the dress out the windscreen and I found gears and handbrake by touch.

I had to take the passenger seat out of my daughters Spitfire to get her in with the dress I made a temp extension of the rear shelf for her to sit on, even tho she's a fly weight at only 6.5 stone (car and daughter still look the same after 21 years!)

The courturier supervised putting her & dress inro the car and arranging the dress down the footwell and also at the church getting her out, what a palaver!

Fortunately it was only around a mile to the village church, even then a truck tried to wedge us at the church roundabout, little car looking up at the big tyres, mother following us in her Jag blasted hell out of the truck driver, I thought madam was going to give chase and rip hell out of driver!

20 plus years ago I drove the bridal party to my brothers wedding in my parents Hupmobile R.
We did the photos before the ceremony and driving through the city to the hotel then ceremony my foot went to the floor when I was braking.
This car only had rear wheel brakes and the foot brake was expanding shoes while the handbrake was contracting band on the rear drum.
Quietly and calmly I used the handbrake for the rest of the journey and at the hotel took of my rented suit jacket and slipped into the overalls I had stashed in the car. A clevis pin for the brake rods had lost its splitpin which caused the clevis to fall out and the brake rod to drop and lose brakes. I scrounged a bolt from elsewhere on the car and reinstated foot operated rear brakes and the rest of the day went well. None of the ladies had any idea what went wrong.
To be honest the handbrake was the better of the 2 brake options probably because it had more area on the drum and better cooling.

Here's some pic's of the Spits second wedding performance when our daughter Michelle drove her sister in law Mia to her wedding with a TR6 convoy, hood up because it was a 20 klm drive and the veil and dress and Mia had to arrive in tact!

Michelle then a Project Mgr at GM Holden was big on safety I don't know how she fitted the safety belt on Mia without compromising the wedding dress and veil?

The car arrived at our place the evening before with Michelle advising me the indicators weren't working, dirty switch contacts removed and fixed them but afterwards failed again so I had to buy a new Lucas switch in Lucas box marked made in Taiwan, this was ironical as Mia was Taiwanese & just immigrated to Aus to marry my son, the second part of the wedding was in Taichung Taiwan, with her family, friends and her dad's boss's in all 350 guests & we had to greet them ALL! Have you ever had Frog Spawn Soup, a delicacy but not for a Yorkshireman, I had half the bowl but the wife gave it a miss!

Wedding went great, car was brilliant, I did plan to take the front seat out but couldn't as the photographer wanted to get in for the ride for photos at the long walk with the castle in the background. We had special permission and a park ranger escort through the deer enclosure to the Long Walk. Quite a few Stags in there (non Triumph).

Looking forward to seeing the pictures when they get them. Couple of showers and one hood up trip but all in all a great day followed by copious amounts of Merlot as they didn't have Riocha in the York club.

Doug how did you manage to get away with the oil dipstick and a white wedding dress?Graham

One black oil drop, not worth thinking about?

Graham,

I put the dip stick through the dishwasher and transported it to the event in a plastic bag. :)

My daughter didn't believe I'd done it the first time so I let her put it in the dishwasher and it went through twice.
