Are people running new engines in for 500 ish miles. I assume keeping the engine around 2-3000 rpm is best I.e. not labouring under load and not revenge it’s nuts loose! Anglefire Posted June 29, 2018 Report Share Posted June 29, 2018 Actually, when I replaced the engine in my disco, it was basically driven without being laboured or over revved- easy in an auto. NonMember Posted June 29, 2018 Report Share Posted June 29, 2018 After a rebuild I fill the sump with cheap 20/50 and drive with that for a couple of hundred not too aggressive miles. By that time, the cheap oil is worn out but when changed to decent stuff it takes the post-rebuild wear residue with it. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
