  1. Don`t know about this Pete,i fitted that box in my 13/60 and it`s fine with the tunnel cover and carpet etc.Works a treat and makes a big difference with the 3:63 diff as well. Steve
  2. Lovely looking original car there,i would have been at the South of England meets in those years, don`t remember the car specifically though, but then... i don`t remember what i did yesterday. S
  3. I am about to replace the radio in my Vitesse (1968 MK 1 CV) with a modern as posted in one of the other threads. In the drivers side footwell side board I have a speaker,it is rectangular, held by 4 studs and nuts, and the speaker and surround look very much like the original one I have for the radio and speaker that sits on the tunnel. The side one is definitely period,i wondered if these were factory fitted as I thought the radio and surround etc. were optional. Steve
  4. I got flat, round locking chrome ones for my Herald and Vitesse as i don`t like the look of the Waso ones. From E bay as new old stock. Just make sure they are vented as mine weren`t and you will break down when the pump tries to create a vacuum in the system.Easily fixed by making small hole in the seal. Steve
  5. Gareth Thomas did extensive work on my HS6 `long tract` manifold (see avatar) when i built my 2.5,matched to the work with the head he also did, and tested all the way through on a flow bench to get the best results possible. All i can tell you that it goes really well and has bags of torque. Steve
  6. I know you can request details from the DVLA of past owners, current if you have a good enough reason i believe.I got my cars old owners this way. Worth calling DVLA in Swansea. I managed to find the first owner of my Vitesse who bought it in 1970,i spoke to him on the phone and he was delighted it was still on the road. Steve
  7. I changed mine to a closed system with an alloy expansion tank next to the master cylinders,It has a pipe running along the edge of the rocker cover to the thermostat housing and a brass inlet tapped into it.Also an alloy rad. Never gets hot even in 30 degree heat last year stuck on the M6. Steve
  8. Vitesse brakes in good working condition are pretty good imho.My Herald with type 14`s is nowhere near as good. I changed to Mintex 1144 in my Vitesse last year,i know they will lock the front as i found out when trying to overtake on last years Northern tour, pulled out and saw a motorbike coming towards me. Quite dusty though. Steve
  9. I believe the MK 1 1600 and 2L had a plain cover(mine does ) and the MK 2 had the Vitesse badge in the middle along with the aliminium looking plate in the number plate recess on the boot. Steve
  10. I still have the unf nuts i used before the CV conversion,i vaguely remember a conversation with Nick Jones about what studs i wanted in his kit and i kept the 3/8 unf ones as i didn`t know if Revo sleeve nuts were available that would still fit the holes in the wheels. Steve
  11. Is there a stud upgrade option if you have sleeved nuts like i have on original Revolutions?. My car also has the CV/MGF hubs at the back. Steve
  12. DVLA search says last tax ran out in October 1989, so either resting in someones shed or sadly no longer around. Steve
  13. There are some parts on e bay at the moment: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TRIUMPH-HERALD-VITESSE-CONVERTIBLE-DASHTOP-HOOD-POPPER-PLATES-VENTS-/253005681193?hash=item3ae8505229:g:3JsAAOSwjKFZS7EE Steve
  14. Have a look here: http://www.oldclassiccar.co.uk/registrations/yk.htm This indicates June 66 in the London area for that reg. My Vitesse (PHT) is June 68 in Bristol. That makes sense to me as i managed to find the first owner and talk to him. Steve
  15. Had one on my Vitesse until recently,it never fitted, had to cut and weld the down pipes but the biggest problem was the rubbish push fit collector, also it sat below the chassis too low so the 3 into 1 bit would hit the road on every journey when going over large bumps and potholes.. In the end i found an original MTP 6-3-1 and had a custom made single box system fitted by Simpson race exhausts.(Mat Simpson from BTCC series). Steve
  16. I have the Nick Jones setup on my MK 1 2.5 Vitesse,i went this route after snapping a drive shaft on the 2012 RBRR in Cornwall, which resulted in me being overtaken by my own rear wheel. Obviously being MK 1 i had to weld the wishbone brackets on the chassis and source the wishbones and tie bars etc. The car has done about 10,000 since then and it gives me much more confidence knowing i shouldn`t lose a wheel. Nick was helpful all the way through.I wish he still did them as i would do my Herald. Steve
  17. My Spal fan is run on its own circuit from the fuses and is permanent so when i`m parking it in my lockup after ticking over for a bit the fan starts up after i turn the engine off.Does it make any difference?,who knows.. Steve
  18. My Vitesse is the same, you didn`t mention in your list of removed bolts that you took off the two seat belt mounts by the handbrake tunnel, they hold the tub to the chassis as well? Steve
  19. Andy is probably on the Isle of Wight for the regular weekender,as are most of the regulars i suspect. I would have attended but had no idea it had started again. Steve
  20. I live near Ascot/Windsor and often drive through the town in my Vitesse or Herald,on sunny days you often see old Bentleys,Astons or E- types out, they never wave ,i don`t think they want to engage with the working classes.. I suppose i could offer to clean their chimneys for them.. S
  21. I think i have one of those on my Herald 13/60 and it takes a lot more leg to brake,i am going to change it back. Steve
  22. My MK 1 Vitesse 2l has one on the Brake MC.Been there since i bought the car in 1985. Steve
  23. A couple of months ago i removed my old 1986 Triumph-Tune twin box system as i was fed with it keep hitting the ground.I had a single box system custom made from the manifold back with the box sitting up next to the rear boot rigger. Sounds great if you give it a boot full but quiet on a motorway. Manifold is a Mike The Pipe 6-3-1. Steve
  24. Surprised to hear this as i thought he was mainly responsible for the extensive new product lines now available. Is there an official announcement? Steve
  25. I Have Pirelli P4 on my Vitesse and Uniroyal rain experts on my Herald, both good for me.I think i paid about £35-£40 each on Black Circles. Steve
