  1. Im sure you wont have terry clips if the seat had the rubber risers blocks apart from them helping with anti rattle the clips cannot be any safety feature Pete
  2. pump performance does also rely on no air leaks from hose connections . Pete
  3. if the problem is due to lack of engagement it is easy to with some grips turn the outer case , the spiral wound outer sheath will if you wind the outer up or down it will make the inner protrude more or unwind make it less its a common way to fix cables . pete
  4. a good solid whack of the "hole " has always worked for me never hit the taper pin a good swipe at the bit with the tapered hole in . Pete
  5. canley classics or mike papworth spring to mind Pete
  6. if you send a sample panel club can get it scanned so you get a match in aerosol or tins this can be also available from many paint factors Pete
  7. next time why not use the club shop for paint Pete
  8. and the moggie minor today was as bad wne you are supposed to be making a profit why fit a dynator at around £300 when a basic alternator is ££60 and they leave the regulator in place !!!! but why change any they didnt check the charging rate and change the brake /strut/reaction rubbers to transform the handling did they check the tyre ages or change the engine oil .not mentioned !!!!! but spent £1100 getting the Sprite seats trimmed to colour match its not program to be proud of ,
  9. so you have moved up to gaffer tape >?????
  10. and the ones by the tunnel generally align with tapped plated lugs on the chassis rail takes a std 7/16" seat belt bolt with spacer to take up the carpet Pete
  11. you get the olde black spot for that need to buzz Kevin Pete
  12. i did notice a few snake oil adverts of solves everything apart from your wallet . Pete
  13. luckily my parrots wont live that long 20 if lucky the cockatoo got rehomed at 10 yrs old ....flying bolt cutters with the mind of a 4 yr old hooligan Pete
  14. what worries me is with all these wonderful alternatives makes you ponder why on earth the engines have only lasted 50 years its a bit late to get paranoid about coolant i put most in the ....Must Have bin Pete
  15. the Bum has no pipes but does cause a lot of turbulence Ha many use aquatic pipes on the air box as they are cheap and can be corrugated on the outside but smooth on the inside had to use this on my 2000 as waste pipes dont align with any cold intake easy. were Doomed ha !!! Pete
  16. this old nutshell keeps popping up its simple cold air has more molecules of oxygen per bucket full than hot air so you get more bang from cold air than hot air why 1600/mk1 dont show any collecting tubes is a mystery we will never get the answer but but far better with than without !!! we made some nice smooth tubes from 50mm waste pipe
  17. and one other thing to note waxstats dont like to be boiled if the engine has overheated and blown out coolant the thermostat should be replaced on a mk3 82c is std. but once cooked they tend to go out of control . Pete
  18. what ever do not go for a payen gasket we had serious troubles with one on a recessed 2500 the canley supplied gasket solved the disaster. by your engine number it seems you have a flat non recessed block and the lack of tab doubles that thought see
  19. and you would also see they changed a £680 diff when it only needed a paper gasket and pinion oil seal cost pennies last week they showed the MGB head reckoned it needed unleaded inserts and the photo of the stripped head showed after 40 yrs of unleaded fuel the seats were as good as new on the herald they sold on there was no mention of oil change or even oiling the trunions a right pair of tv muppets as for the hood window there are a good few marine type that would have stitched in a new window if they were really trying to make a buck they would be a bit more care over poor decisions , if you were out to make a profit you would have stuck to points and pocket the £40 crazy program aimed at plonkers sorry its very poor Pete
  20. had there been any indications on previous drives ?? did you add the waterless stuff, have you eliminated any air locks etc. Pete
  21. check the voltage stabiliser is giving a 10.5v pulsed output you may notice the fuel gauge is also reading higher as steve says some senders have wildly wrong setting. the thermostat controls the coolant flow and the radiator cools the engine output the type of coolant should not affect this operation , the fact this coolant can withstand a higher temperature than other coolants has no bearing on the stats ability to control things you need to check the readings are correct not look for scape goats ideas do some checks and let us know . Pete
  22. I dont think that clatter is engine related ...have a look at drive line for some oddity Pete
  23. really you need to identify what is causing the slow return cable must have some slack ,as temperature will open the idle if its too taut. did you replace the throttle spindles ???? do make sure no air filter /gasket is not blocking the front face vents Pete
  24. yes if the wire hook doesnt work you fill the cavity with grease and need a punch of the same diameter as the input shaft , position the punch and give it good whack with a mallet and the grease will push the bush out . it should not be a tight fit in the crank but lifes not like that Ha ! Pete
  25. it is just a rubber "bellows" it ether works or ...leaks bit like the bulb on a turkey baster or antifreeze tester you just squeeze it to pressure water to the jets its just a rubber thing no moving parts some may have a simple ball to produce a valve but most are one in the bottle and one in the pipe to the jets its all very simple Pete
