Is it time to consider whether the whole site is fit for purpose as it looks like it’s a standalone solution that has developed over the years . Maybe an epos online solution should be considered like Shopify or even Wix . If this isn’t practical then removing the moving graphics and having black text on a white background would be an improvement. I used to check prices with the TSSC shop but don’t bother now because the site is so clunky . Having dual pricing complicates the purchasing exercise . Does dual pricing make money for you . I did a quick check on SEO ( search engine optimisation ) and there are issues which will affect your Google ranking eg no H tags . My apologies if this is incorrect . It’s some time since I last did SEO . Lastly the delivery charges appear high compared other suppliers. Paul

Hi Pete could it be that the 1st:2nd hub on my gearbox is not a 156911 ? Paul

Update: Test Drive: All went fine and the box is much more “direct “ now no flopping around . I haven’t fully tested coming down to second at speed properly . At 25 I can drop to second which I couldn’t do before so it’s looking promising . I’ve lost the singing canary so that must be a positive . Only issue I had was engine was a bit sluggish until I realised I hadn’t put back the spark plug lead on no 6 cylinder 😱. She’s singing now . Thanks Pete needs a proper run now to test and bed the new clutch in Paul

Just checking how much oil is required for my Mk2 Vitesse with D type Overdrive . My research says 1.35 litres. Is this correct ? Paul

Hi Pete, could you explain the issue , it will be better than me trying to ! I know there is slop on the single rail hub . This is because it’s the wrong one fitted ? What is the one I have from . I know I need part no 156911, which is no longer available and the solution is to find a second hand one or buy an old Vitesse Mk1 or mk2 ?? box and dismantle. My preferred option is an old box as I would be able to better understanding the gear box workings . Paul

I gave a lift to a friend on the school run in my Morris Minor. She broke the handle strap on the passenger door and I forgot to tell her to put her legs astride the footwell which was full of water 😱 Paul

Just put the od solenoid back with the Gearbox in place , just to prove my Mods work . All went fine . Starting the lower bolt was a faff trying to locate the screw hole , started with screwdriver extension and finished off with ring spanner Paul

This suction pump should work https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_nkw=Oil+Suction+Pump+Car+Hand+Syringe+Gun+Pump+Gearbox+Fill+%2F+Extractor+500ml&_trksid=p2380057.m4084.l1313 Paul

Hi purchased a couple of spin off oil filters from Canleys for my Vitesse , cost £7.20 each plus vat plus delivery ( there were a few extra bits ) . They sent FRAM PH966B which I then googled and found this offer from Arnold Clark’s Delivery is £2.95 or free with orders over £24 Paul

Hi Tony , I’m playing safe , just ordered from Canleys . Thanks for guiding me through the last Mann 714/2 issue Paul

Hi Pete , the rear support for the overdrive sits on that plate , which in turn bolts to the main chassis . I removed the plate and the rear support and attached to the gearbox and put back in one piece . The plate is then bolted back . Using this method eliminates the need of the modified spanner Paul
-
The gearbox plus overdrive is back , just bolting things back . The solution was jacking up the engine so it was parallel with the gearbox ie much higher than I did before . Thanks Pete Lewis . I didn’t need to butcher the bulkhead or remove the prop . A few tips I picked up on the way , this being my first clutch change. I removed the passenger door , passenger seat , steering wheel outer . The door removal not essential but made access much easier. Fold back carpet over prop shaft area, cover floor with old carpet .Use a piece of plywood in the cabin as a sledge for the gearbox . Moving the box around is much easier . The bolts holding the rear support for the overdrive are inaccessible. So made this double cranked spanner which holds the bolt head whilst tightening up from underneath . I bought these from Lidl some time ago . Ideal for lifting the box so it could be manoeuvred . Can’t rate these enough . About £5 each . Makes the job easier for 1 person Each air pad will lift 135 kg to approx 100mm. Once the box went home it was a case of lowering the engine / gearbox into place . Almost forgot a 3ft crowbar to jamb between the propshaft links to finally push the gearbox home . If you’ve painted the gearbox cover , remove any paint in the bolt holes (another T shirt ) plus you need a good torch Stuff a rag in the gear box cover access to stop dropping nuts or bolts . Thanks to all with help and advice Paul
