Rustbuster sells the MX Blaster which looks similar , about £350 plus ancilliaries Paul

My Vitesse bonnet needs attention and need to remove the PO under seal to see the extent of the problem , The Smart Scraper attachment for my multi tool seems to be working the photo shows 10 mins work . Not much heat generated and the rust in the middle seam has been exposed . The scraper was part of a tile kit though can be purchased individually for about £6 The pic is the underside of the near side wheel arch Paul

I have used POR15 on ancillaries and it’s good stuff , 3 yrs on and good as new . Though follow the instructions to the T or it could peel off . I’ve also used their fuel tank liner kit , nb I use a brush with the Por15 and with 2 coats gives a good finish Paul

The passenger door was making a noise when applying max pressure so this must have been the B post flexing . At max the wings were pushed out by about 1ins . My concern was I only wanted the drivers side gap widening so didn’t risk any further pressure . Paul
-
The boot lid on my Vitesse catches the body and now worn through the paint . My plan was to push out the wings which has worked . The distance between the wing tips according to the WSM is 4ft and after my spreading it’s 4ft and 1/8th . Then I peened down the high spots and there is now a defined gap for the boot lid and no more catching . This is the spreader tool I made from scrap wood and a M10 turnbuckle with the ends cut off. The spreader could be modified to hold doors in place and there is approx 2 ins of adjustment with the turnbuckle After spreading the wings and some groaning I used a nut to flatten the high spots . All in all job done for a few pence . Leaving the spreader tool in place under pressure over night did help Paul

Got one Pete , very good but tighten the 2 screws or they will come out Paul

I used Silent Coat https://www.deadening.co.uk for my fibre glass gearbox cover , worked a treat and easy to apply . Use a heat gun to soften and a wallpaper seam roller to apply. The club sell a sealing kit , but not often I say this but it’s overpriced and not much good . Make a “door” by the gearbox filler for easy access. The cover is easy to remove and a pain to put back Paul

My tyres on mk2 vitesse are set at 30 psi , I find this aids steering at low speeds and navigating into my garage which is a tight turn Paul
-
Yes they are good, give the impact driver a Wack with a hammer and the driver bit will tighten or untighten a fraction and should remove the screw headed bolt. Don’t be put off by the price Paul
-
Hi I’m running same system on my mk2 vitesse and had similar issues , the screw holding the electronic points in the dizzy had loosened and moved towards the magnet and was catching just a fraction . Just enough to cause misfire . Readjust and tighten and all ok for me Paul

I bought a baseball type steering lock for my vitesse from fleabay £8 or so . Works a treat looks effective in my vitesse and might have helped when I completed my insurance application noting I had one https://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/Strong-AntiTheft-Car-Steering-Wheel-Lock-Universal-Vehicle-Security-Baseball-Bat/283484459989?ul_ref=https://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/710-53481-19255-0/1?ff3=2&pub=5575376664&toolid=10001&campid=5338268676&customid=Cj0KCQjwn_LrBRD4ARIsAFEQFKscesbTaclVFKUHlXqBa57Qn_WuwN0EJKO0xABqbGN10_SMZj4OPIAaAo4vEALw_wcB&lgeo=1&item=283484459989&srcrot=710-53481-19255-0&rvr_id=2109924870606&rvr_ts=2f4ed4a716d0a4d129373459ffb6d656&_mwBanner=1&_rdt=1&ul_noapp=true&pageci=b1fbdd46-c98a-474c-a850-39f38031c278 Paul

When I bought my Vitesse 3 years ago and with no experience I found the owners handbook available from the club shop very useful and it stays in the car and is referred to regularly . I then purchased Haynes second hand from Fleabay and the Workshop Manual from the Club Shop . Paul

Thanks Johny , the plan was to remove the roof so I can reduce the body tub spread by narrowing the B post distance with a ratchet strap or similar device. Currently the passenger door base is 6 mm proud until 10 mins ago when I removed the door trim and then he hoy the gap reduced to something much more acceptable 😄😄😄😄 looks like the trim is the wrong section I will remove 1/3 rd of the round section and see what happens , if this doesn’t work purchase the correct profile . These are the gaps now I’ve still got some work to do though looks like I no longer need to remove the roof . The boot catches on the drivers side so now looking to jack the wings apart to improve the gap . Thanks for your input Paul

Hi removing the roof panel on my Vitesse . Following the WSM I have removed the 3 bolts accessible from the boot . Removed the 2 bolts from the header rail after removing the sun visor / mirror assembly . WSM says remove Quarter lights and Backlight . Can’t find what the Backlight is .Is it the rear window? It looks logical to retain the quarter lights in place as they should fall out when the roof is raised Finally any tips , tricks for removal appreciated . Plan is to suspend the roof section from the garage ceiling Paul
