  1. Having now got the passenger side off. The metal sections have been scrubbed and treated with Rust killer. I find the rear inner, have had the Brackets "tack" welded on, not riveted?. Fortunately they are recoverable, the other "strange" thing is that the Inner "felt" strips where wrapped all round the channel(s) with a sort of adhesive woven tape?. Is that Original, or possibly the result of some later refurbishment?. I am assuming the Canley type Channel liner will still fit?. Width of the steel channel appears to be +/- 1/2". Pete
  2. Any one know if the plastic extensions are still Available?. Not coming up on flea bay nor rimmer. My existing one is exceptionally Grotty. Pete
  3. Thats intersting, and acedemic of course as we sold it back in the early 90`s. It`s currently Sorned (DVLA). With last Change of owner shown as 2012.? Originally white, (all panels) I had it resprayed for "herself" to drive. Pete
  4. Hi Actually, back in the 80`s. I drove a "Poo Brown" Dolomite (1800?) belonging to my Son. Don`t remember the brakes being any worse than some others. My "transport" back then was the (then "new") FWD Escourt. His Dolly was nicked and trashed on the Pirbright ranges. Co-incidently the Brand new, still boxed, Inertia seat belts intended for that car, but never fitted, are going in the Herald!. Pete
  5. Hi Both mine are off at the moment. I was wondering where I Might get the Channel liner. So thats a Pointer👍 Pete
  6. Hi The Rimmer Offering 402694 looks to be a one piece affair?. Pete
  7. Hi Could the diff; be different it having been a 1.6 originally?. I don`t know if the 2L had taller gearing? Pete
  8. Can I just ask?. Is the Dashpot/oil at the correct level?. It sounds as if the Vaccum might be lifting the Needle too high at low revs?. The vaccum is greatest at low rev`s. It`s actually a bloody long time since I worked on a Live one so it`s a bit of a shot in the Dark?. Pete
  9. https://forum.tssc.org.uk/topic/6697-rear-tub-spread-dimension/page/2/ The foregoing was Posted when I was trying to get some Sense into the C-V. Donr know if it is of use?. Pete
  10. HI Curious, When did the 2L Engine, replace the 1.6. Our Old (2L) Vittesse had the Vitesse 6 on the boot. But was 1968 (G)?. But retained the "Slotted" Headlamp Cowls, which I thought where changed on the later ones?. Pete
  11. SNAP.!! Now all I have to remember is where the hell I put it!???. (and the colour tune`s) I had two when I had the Vittesse 6 in the 80`s. The cable on mine is in two parts. I just thought I needed a new one!!. Pete.
  12. A HELL of a Lot. If you believe the (Really) old Guys.🤣 Father told (virtually) the same story, with ref; to the old Bedford (Petrol) 3 Tonner, they used as transport. He was a "layer" on the Big Ack-Ack guns. As his penance for being "reserved". 6 blokes pushing a 3 tonner, until the driver "found" the `arm in his gas mask bag!. Pete
  13. Something like this then?. https://www.jamespaddock.co.uk/brake-master-cylinder-single-line-2 Pete
  14. Been Looking at some of these. There is one which is 5/8". BUT the seller stated for "Front DRUMS". Any idea why that should be?. Different stroke?. (It looks identical to O/E) The other(s) appear to be 3/4". Which to my mind would necessitate of increased Pedal pressure?. (OK, I know that could be offset with a servo). Pete
  15. When the "lady" wrote my Fiat off taking out the Door and Wing, ("Not economically viable repair") In Morrisons car park. The then insurers where non plussed when I ask to buy the salvage. 2 weeks later, second hand door and wing and a new MOT. It was back on the road. Doing my bit for the planet?.🤣 by re-cycling?. Pete
  16. Well. I gave the old M/C a further bout of cleaning, not happy with the results as it looks as if the Bottom of the cylinder is badly wasted, (where I assume the Lower seal sits?). Connected the Endoscope to the laptop, and took a closer look:- (Snapshot). Not looking at all well. I think new is in order?. Now its choices time. O/E at £102-00?, Or up the ante, and replace with (cheaper) 0.7" device at half the price?, which would also cover the cost of a Servo?, and still come in at under £100? Total?. Hmmmmm?. Next job is to clean and check the Clutch M/C. Pete
  17. Whilst I have no physical "evidence" to back this up. The "Propper" bolts may well not be high tensile too?. (I note the OP was suggesting H-T). However most mounting situations would have the Bolts in Shear. H-T bolts are not best known for this, They exhibit a loss of Ductility, for example, and have been known to fail when subjected to (shear) testing?. Pedantry in action, I apreciate?.
  18. I know we all try and "improve" our vehicles. I do however wonder where the line can be drawn?, over what is "too far"?. Probably more concerning would be "our" insurers attitude, to many of the more extreme modifications. Even if they are done in the principle of increasing safety?. Food for Thought?. Pete
  19. Hi. Two or three things to think about. 1) I managed to put a run of weld in the damaged thread hole, drilled and re-tapped the Plate. 2) check if the damaged plate will tap (M10? I think?) and use Metric set screws. you may have to "ease" the door hinge holes a tad?, but worth considering?. 3) A bit more drastic (IMV), Pilot drill, through the existing hole, open the innner A Post enough to get a captive? nut on the back of the plate.?. Pete
  20. Sometimes the result is permanent. This was during a House build in 1998/9/2000. Everytime the Nail grows it splits, so it`s permanently cut/filed right back!!😢 Pete
  21. My "classic". As a non smoker, I modified the Lighter Socket. The car would not start until I pushed the lighter in. In the days before we needed 12v for all the Communication and Gadgets etc; It worked well. Pete
  22. With O/E M/C`s over £100. And AMG ones at 1/2 that price. It`s tempting to go for it. And add the servo?. When I`ve finished cleaning up the Very grotty originals I`ll look at it Pete
  23. Not at all surprised. Providing the key will slide into the lock. The wards are usually so worn they work with any key. We made keys out of Shim steel. I could unlock nearly every door on the Older Ships with one. Especially the Cold rooms where the Food was kept. The Old style Mortice locks. Only needed a "T" and you where in. Padlocks where a doddle with a small allen key. (We had lots of time on our hands on long passages across the Pacific!. when doing service check`s on the "graveyard" watch). The hidden switch trick still works. Based on the "kiss" principle. Pete
